Conference Service Project The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery is an extraordinary place .

It provides a safe, short-term respite (from a few hours up to three days) for all family members . For children, it provides a haven of unconditional love and attention from adults whose only hope is to create lifetime memories of security . For parents who are overwhelmed and lack support, it’s a breath of fresh air and helps eliminate tremendous burdens . Parenting classes are also offered to family members .

Named in memory of Vanessa Kay Behan, a Spokane girl who died of child abuse related injuries at the age of two, we’re committed to preventing her story from happening again . Since opening our doors in 1987, we’ve cared for over 81,100 children and been a life-line of support and hope to every single parent .

This impact is completely funded by the support and generosity of committed champions who believe that keeping kids safe and strengthening families results in a more vibrant community for everyone .

Navigating The Future — But The Trouble With The Future Is, It’s Not What It Used To Be!Wednesday May 6, 3:10 - 5:00 pm

Murray BanksIn a rapidly changing world, many schools have an unchanging rhythmical environment… a similar flow

and schedule every day that can lull even the most dedicated educators into the comfort zone . But if we are to Navigate The Future, we need to inspire our colleagues to become agile, responsive and creative in their work… every day . Murray’s breakout will compliment his keynote with four strategies for helping our colleagues overcome “Pyschosclerosis, “ avoid the insidious creep of “G .G .” and work with a sense of inquisitiveness and introspection . You will love his “Lava Lamp Philosophy” for continuous change and improvement

Murray was an innovator in his schools and early on found himself alienated by colleagues who told him “we’ve never done it this way before;” “we don’t do it that way here;” “we tried that years ago and it didn’t work;” and of course, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” His four tips will help us be inspirational leaders to flex, adapt, create and innovate .
