FAMILY STORYOUR MISSION
Family House serves as a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other
life-threatening illnesses by providing physical comfort and emotional support, free from financial concerns.
OUR CORE VALUES
COMPASSION We believe that our compassion for our families as they endure the most trying experience of their lives must drive everything we do
SANCTUARY We believe that providing a safe, comfortable, worry-free living environment enables our families to focus on their healing
FAMILY We believe in providing an environment where our families naturally connect and find hope, comfort, and healing within each other
CARE We believe that affordability should not be a factor in where parents find world class care for their child’s life-threatening illness
COMMUNITY We believe in providing opportunities for our volunteers and benefactors to profoundly impact the lives of our families
Tyler Family
When Houston Tyler was born, he had only a 3% chance to live. Doctors at his local hospital near Bakersfield couldn’t unravel his 9 different diagnoses (cancer, swelling on the brain, bronchial malacia, and others), and he was airlifted to the NICU at UCSF Children’s Hospital. His parents, Toure and Rolanda, along with big sister Zoe, stayed at Family House for 40 days during Houston’s many surgeries.
“It was the toughest time of our lives, and through all of it, Family House was there for us, and played a paramount role in us keeping our sanity. We are forever grateful.”
