Dr. Anne Snowdon, Director of Clinical Research, HIMSS Analytics

Although the pricing of medical services is imperative in making healthcare more affordable and accessible for all people, it is important to consider whether effecting a blanket pricing control policy is applicable to both public and private hospitals, in view of how this may limit other aspects of improving healthcare such as innovation and improving patient quality of care.

At HIMSS AsiaPac19, do not miss the opportunity to listen to a panel of experienced healthcare thought leaders from both the public and private sectors discuss how to best understand and manage price control on medical services.

Moderator- Dr. Charles Alessi, Chief Clinical Officer, HIMSS

Cyberattacks are getting increasingly advanced and stealthy due to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through machine learning to attack healthcare networks. Thankfully, AI is also being used for the purpose of defending against cyber-attacks and also securing healthcare networks as well.

At HIMSS AsiaPac19, listen to Richard Staynings, Chief Security Strate-gist of Cylera as he underscores the importance of AI in buffering health-care security to ensure that critical elements such as patients’ electronic health information are kept secure.

Richard Staynings, Chief Security Strategist, Cylera, USA

Exchanging patient information between different healthcare IT systems is critically important. FHIR is the global industry standard for this. FHIR is free available, open, and designed to be quick to learn and implement. It is increasingly being used around the world. Grahame will provide his perspective, as its originator, on why a data standard can make a difference to healthcare outcomes.

Grahame Grieve, FHIR Product Director, HL7 International, Australia

Many countries are at a crossroad when deciding on their EMR solution, especially when it comes to complying with global standards in terms of technical structure and medical terminology. Moreover, the solution must meet local regulatory and reimbursement processes, and also accommodate promising technologies such as Cloud, IoT and Artificial Intelligence.

Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) opened in 2003 and is the first fully digitized and paperless hospital with its own EMR - thus certified as the first Stage 7 HIMSS EMRAM hospital outside the US. Currently, SNUBH is providing it EMR to more than 30 university or tertiary hospitals in South Korea as well as 15 hospitals in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and US. Going forward, SNUBH aims for it EMR to be a facilitator to adopt diverse solutions for IoT, AI, as well as preparing for cloud based SaaS service.

In spite of the success achieved, SNUBH has had to overcome multiple hurdles such as budgetary constraints, lack of global references, and the need to balance between local and international standard requirements. Nevertheless, this talk aims to give a clear picture of SNUBH’s EMR journey, in the hope of stimulating the willingness for other healthcare organizations to collaborate and help reach the ultimate aim of adopting EMR systems in the healthcare field.

WORKSHOPS

CPHIMS and CAHIMS Workshop

HIMSS offers Health Information and Technology certification through its Certified Professional in Health Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) (suitable for super-users and leaders); or Certified Associate in Health Information & Management Systems (CAHIMS) (suitable for most HIT professionals) accreditations.

Getting certified demonstrates that healthcare staff have met a standard of professional body of knowledge – thus reaching a milestone in their professional development.

When your organization signs up for HIMSS AsiaPac19, participating staff will be given the unique opportunity to access the CPHIMS and CAHIMS workshops organized by HIMSS, which provides strategies for preparing and taking the certification exam in April 2020.

Do not miss out on this unique opportunity to be part of the transformation of health through information and technology.

Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Workshop

Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is a standard for exchanging electronic health records between healthcare providers across the network. Founded on the basis of openness in the health data management process, there is great hope that the adoption of this standard will open up possibilities for transforming health outcomes.

However, it is in the adoption of FHIR that presents a problem: getting more healthcare providers on board in view of business, cultural or even governance obstacles.

Nevertheless, one thing for sure is that FHIR and healthcare interoperability are very much the present and future of healthcare and at HIMSS AsiaPac19, the FHIR Workshop will provide participants with knowledge of FHIR; the role of HL7, IHE and HIMSS in the FHIR eco-system; and how it can be deployed advantageously in the healthcare community.

HIMSS Maturity Model Workshop

Learn how you can take your healthcare organization forward through technology with an overview of the HIMSS Analytics Maturity Model Frameworks.

In obtaining certification for the six different Adoption and Maturity models, your organization will be recognized as being able to harness technology and analytics to not only reach clinical and operational goals that support optimized patient care, but ultimately deliver better healthcare outcomes as well.
