Reception Dolphins Class Assembly
Well done to Reception Dolphins who performed a fantastic assembly on Thursdaywhich highlighted the wonderful year they have had at the RGS.
The pupils told us about the different topics they have studied throughout the year andperformed some excellent songs. The assembly showcased the progress the pupilshave made and they are certainly ready to move on from Early Years and start KeyStage 1.
I am sure everyone who saw the assembly would have bene impressed at howconfident the pupils were and how well they had remembered their words, dancemoves and the order of the performance.

School Council Update
This week Noah from the School Council helped me to start painting the fence whichhas now been installed around the new school garden. The School Council (Layla,MK, Rashid, Noah and Ssuubi) had previously decided on red, green, blue andyellow for the fence as they felt this would help create a bright and colourful garden, and so Noah and I started with the red and green panels before we had to retreatinside due to the heat!
The School Council have been working throughout the year to raise money for thisproject and should be congratulated for their continued hard work and enthusiasm.Various planters, selected by the School Council, have been ordered from the UK,and we look forward to taking delivery of these over the summer so that planting cantake place next academic year.
Before the end of term, the School Council will be selling Healthy Recipe Books fullof delicious recipes pupils from the RGS submitted for the Healthy Bakingcompetition earlier in the year.

Reading Workshop
On Wednesday, parents were invited to a workshop on reading as part of ourcommitment and drive to encourage and promote reading across the school.
The meeting began by looking at the expectations for each year group across eachof the strands for reading:
1) what words children are expected to read 2) how we check a child's understanding of what they have read.
For the second part of the meeting we looked at how we approach the teaching ofthese skills and how parents can help.
It was wonderful to hear the views of the parents and get feedback on how we cancontinue to inform and support both pupils and parents about reading in our school.
If you have any questions regarding the workshop, please contact me. Thank you foryour on-going support.
