CONFERENCE VENUE

NOVOSIBIRSK, the third largest city of Russia, is situated in the heart of Russia, in Siberia. The history of Novosibirsk started in 1893 when the first Trans-Siberian railway bridge across the river Ob was built. Until 1925, Novosibirsk was called Novonikolayevsk, after the Tzar Nicholai II of Russia. At present, Novosibirsk is the largest industrial, cultural, scientific and educational centre east of the Ural Mountains. Manufacturing includes

mining equipment, turbines, textiles, chemicals, heavy machine tools, metallurgy. It is the home to one of Russia's best universities, a number of research institutions and a scientific research centre. Novosibirsk prides with its opera and ballet companies, several drama theatres, museums, art galleries, and numerous sports facilities. Novosibirsk is the third city in Russia (after Moscow and St. Petersburg) in which a subway system was established (The Novosibirsk Metro, opened in 1985). Located south of the central part of the city (about 30 km) is Akademgorodok – the Novosibirsk Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is built on the shore of the Ob Sea, a man-made reservoir on the River Ob, and surrounded with majestic birch and pine forests. Akademgorodok houses the Novosibirsk State University, 35 research institutions, apartment buildings, houses, and much more.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONYou will find information about hotel reservation at the conference web-site: http://www.kinetics.nsc.ru/kcp/7ISFS/index.htm after April 20.A limited number of guest professor rooms (2- or 3 room in a suite, $20 per day) and student rooms ($10 per day) around NSU campus are reserved.

ENTERTAINMENT AND SOCIAL EVENTSDuring the Seminar the organizers plan to arrange sightseeing tours and entertainment for the participants and their companions that include visiting the Novosibirsk Opera, a boat trip across the Ob Sea, etc. In addition, for the persons interested in a special tour around Novosibirsk city can be arranged. The seminar participants will be offered a visit to the local Museum of Ethnography, where the world-famous mummy named the Altay Princess is exhibited. The organizers cordially invite all the conference participants to attend the Welcome Party, which will take place in the evening of July 11. A barbecue is planned for the evening of July 12. During the conference, a concert and sports competitions will be offered to the participants. A banquet will take place on July 13. On the 14 th of July, we are planning to hold tours of Akademgorodok and to visit combustion laboratories of SB RAS Institutions.

PUBLICATIONSArrangements have been made to publish selected papers in a special issue of "Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves" Journal (Fizika goreniya i vzryva).

WEATHERThe weather in Novosibirsk in the middle of July is normally sunny with the temperatures in the range 25-30°C. The water temperature in the Ob Sea is expected to be around 24°C. We advise you to bring sports clothes and swimsuits. The Organizing Committee hopes that the weather will create a pleasant spirit around the Workshop.

TRANSPORTATIONNovosibirsk airport has an international terminal and performs direct flights to Frankfurt-on-Main, Hanover, Prague, Berlin, Munich and Beijing.

REGISTRATION FEESTo be announced. The Organizing Committee aims at reasonably low registration fees and will try to help those who need financial support. For researcher younger than 35 (with oral presentations) and for students, the registration fee will be reduced by 50% and 75%, accordingly.
