Look At Your Life Through Heaven’s Eyes
One of the reasons we struggle in our life is be-cause we don’t see the things the way that God
sees them. We have what I call a spiritual astigma-tism that distorts our vision and makes it impossi-ble to see as God sees. Life looks very different when you look at it through Heaven’s eyes. If we
look to God for everything, the good times get bet-ter and the bad times are not so bad. If we learn to look at life and people through God's eyes, every-thing changes. I am reminded of the song, Through Heaven’s Eyes, from the animated movie, Prince of Egypt. “A single thread in a tapestry though its color
brightly shines can never see its purpose in the
pattern of the grand design. And the stone that
sits up on the very top of the mountain's mighty
face doesn't think it's more important than the
stones that forms the base. So how can you see
what your life is worth or where your value lies?
You can never see through the eyes of man, you
must look at your life, look at your life through
heaven's eyes.”
The Bible says that God has plans for us. In Jeremi-ah 29:11, it says: “For I know the plans I have for
you." God's plans for us are good. They are better than anything we could possibly think of ourselves. God is the one that gives us the power to be suc-cessful and the desire to do better. So no matter what we are going through, we need to remember that God knows all about it and already sees how it will end. If His plans for us are good and we trust Him, we can look at our lives differently. The dilem-ma we find ourselves in is needing to see life clear-ly but looking at it through our eyes. That’s a sure
receipt for a distorted view.
What we need to do is to stop looking at life from our perspective and begin looking at life through the eyes of God. As long as we look at life with hu-man eyes, we will not see clearly. It’s when we
begin to look at life with the eyes of God that we will have a clearer vision. The clearer our vision be-comes the greater success we will have.

ST. Vincent de Paul in Traverse City Who we are and what we do
One unique program of the TC office is financial assistance to help the working poor called
The Family Fund. This is an example of how the funds are used. A young family with 3 children got behind in rent when the last child was born prematurely. The father is employed in the tourist service industry, causing their income to fluctuate, and the mother had to leave her job to care for their new fragile arrival. St. Vin-cent’s used the Family Fund to pay the balance owed after all oth-er agencies contributed their maximum. Upon receiving assistance, the mother cried (along with the volunteer counselor
who was so pleased to help). They needed help only once. The mother is back to work and they are all doing well. In our community there are families who work hard to generate income to support their children but they have minimal wage jobs, a sudden illness in the family or they find it difficult to manage in the off-seasons. They fall through the cracks of governmental programs and are not eligible for assistance. They are in financial crisis but have the potential of being independent of long-term aid. These funds fill in the gaps and assist families who strive for independence. If you are inclined to participate in the Family Fund as your corporal works of mercy send your contribution

ASH WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday, February 17th, we will celebrate the beginning of the Lenten season with Mass at 9:00am and 6:00pm. Distribution of ashes will take place following each
Mass. We will follow the protocol established by the Diocese of Gaylord. For the distribution of ashes, they will be lightly sprinkled on the head of the person without touching ( and not smudged on the forehead).
Eucharistic Ministers/Lectors
We are still in need of new Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors. If you are interested, please see our Music Director; Tom Zeoli after Mass. Becoming a Eucharistic Minister or Lector is a great way to get involved in the celebration of Mass.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS
During this difficult time of COVID-19 Pandemic the Knights of Columbus have been forced to suspend the 2021 Food Drive which benefits St. Patrick Food Pantry The Knights appreciate your generous monetary and food donations.
Even though the Knights of Columbus Food Drive has been suspended, the food pantry is still in need of non-food supplies such as: feminine hygiene products, toiletries, paper products , laundry and dish soap.

Safe Harbor as you know is the Homeless shelter in Traverse City which was begun and continues to be run by area churches and volunteers. We are approaching the St Patrick week for volunteering at Safe Harbor. We have 1 day February 25th as part of the Catholic Churches week, and our week which is March 13th through March March 19th. Next week we will begin sign up procedures to fill our scheduled commitments. Please consider spending a few hours to help out in this way, or consider a donation to provide the food that other parish members will prepare and serve. The winter weather has turned cold. It is vital that we continue our work to provide life saving emergency shelter in Traverse City. I wanted to give everyone an update on the safety of the shelter so far this winter. As COVID numbers in Traverse City rise, Safe Harbor's COVID safety protocols have proven effective in keeping guests and volunteers as safe as possible. The ability to do on-site COVID testing, quarantine and isolation protocols, and dili-gence to public health measures have resulted in 0 cases of COVID transmission at Safe Harbor. Hours of planning, dili-gent work by volunteers, and input from local health experts, have led to a very robust set of protocols for shelter opera-tions. We have implemented screening measures for all guests and volunteers and protocols for addressing any possible illnesses, including onsite presence from the County Health Department for rapid assessment.
