    • Teachers’ usual discussion concerns nancial matter or monetaryconstraints. Next concern the students’ behavior and lack ofinterest in their studies. Updates from DepEd office and someschool-based issues and concerns such as rationalization andevaluation matters.

    • Financial problem• Financial problems• Students’ behavioral problems• Usual topic during free t ime conversations b y teachers is nancial

matters.• Family p roblems (emotional relationships). Students’ problems.• Financial problems• For m e, students’ performance, teachers’ attitude, money matters.

Teachers’ personality and attitude towards work. Negative attitudetowards work. Career enhancement.

    • The usual discussion of the teachers during free time is aboutmoney matters, the increase of salary an d sometimes the problemsof the st udents in the sch ool.

    • Students who are always absent, not paying their contributionsand miscellaneous fees, parents who have not attended anyhomeroom meeting. Salary increase of teachers, pay day, loansupdate, etc.Because can’t determine the time consumed and there are someconcerns in your class / homeroom you will miss t o follow up.

    86

Follow up question: What are the possible reasons whyunnecessary talking ranks number 1 as time waster?

Teachers tend to nd comfort or conrmation maybe with other friends – teachers and sharing with peers also help one to berelieved of the said pressures and emotional burdens amongteachers.

    • An example of time waster.• An expression of just complying requirements.• Topics of “unnecessary talking” varies. It leads and connects to

another topic which becomes fun, therefore, releases stress andtension for the teacher.

    • Thus, time is wasted.• Waste of time. As far as I can remember, unproductive meeting did

not happen here in school.• It will rob productive time. It m ay lead to gossiping and back

stabbing.• To express emotions• Because the net income of the teacher’s salary cannot cope up with the needs in the family.

    • Release st ress an d part of enjoyment.

2.What can you say about unproductive meeting?

    • Can’t say . Don’t con sider ever y meeting as unproductive. In fact, each meeting is a perfect avenue for some qu eries an d concerns to

be answered. So it’s not a waste of time.• An example of time waster.• An expression of just complying requirements• Sorry – I can’t recognized an y meeting as u nproductive• Personally, I believe that unproductive meeting is a situation in which all the plans/visitors transpired during the meeting will not

produce t angible results.• Unexpected output after the meeting. Participants are not

responsive.• Area meeting (Agenda are not well prepared/ on the spot)

  • 8/18/2019 (8) Appendices

    11/23

    87

    • Unproductive meeting resulted to negative productive which meansteachers d id not respond to any call from the person in authority. No commitment shown.

    • Area Meeting. When the department head just observed anddoesn’t care for whatever di scussion made. No focus of the m eetingfacilitated.

    • Meeting without agenda and meeting not in quorum.• Sometimes area meeting.• It’s j ust a waste o f time si nce every body is b usy.• I can’t recall any.• Unproductive meeting – meeting that won’t be able to attain or

meet the desired objective of the m eeting. Open ended meeting.• It is u nproductive when it did not drive their personal needs and

career.• It might be yea r level meeting because o f duplication of input from

the General Faculty Meeting and Area Meeting.• Unproductive t eacher i f teacher d id not listen to the p rincipal. Talk

to the t eachers’ personal time.

3.Why lack of discipline is considered time waster and how youovercome it?

    • Because we should be rm in one’s decisions and dealing with

students. Show to them that what you say you mean.• No recognized plan for w ork, no prioritizing.• Absence to make a list of “what-to-do-today” and stick to it. It

should start with the ea siest up to the h ardest.• Discipline on time management can be overcome through

prioritizing tasks and personal commitment to change one’sattitudes.

    • No priority of works/budget of time of work. There should be well/budget of time of work. There should be well planned schedule

on what to do.• The school must facilitate career enhancement, area confrontation,

open-line relationship must be en hance t o every i ndividual.• To overcome as teachers being lack of discipline time management

talk to the concern teacher in a polite manner regarding thatattitude.

    • The teacher needs to plan, organize and make of listing on things/task to be p rioritized.

  • 8/18/2019 (8) Appendices

    12/23

    88

    • Proper planning sh ould be con sidered.• Pray, talk to the t eachers p ersonally.• I think everyone is trying to overcome it and they have each

different factors. It is a lways ranks w ork as yo ur on e p riority.

4.How do you feel an ineffective communication and feedback by yoursuperior as a t eacher? Do you consider it as time waster too?

Hurting! Challenged! It ruined my day.Discouraged. Bad time.HurtI would feel bad. Then, disrespect to m y su perior follows.Ineffective communication and feedback can cause loss ofcondence and dissatisfaction towards my superior. My time is

wasted for hearing bad words. To have updates/ information on my responsibilities. Worries. Waste my time.

Negative feeling. No sel f-contentment. Thinking at home bad time. Well, I feel discourage and discomfort but it depends upon the

situation and the task by you r superior.Sometimes we feel discouraged and ask evaluation and ideas frompeers.Because it causes disrespect and useless time hearing thosenegative on e.Discouraged and negative emotion.Sad

5.What are the unnished tasks you are leaving during seminar, trainings, and during absences?

    • Lessons undone which require double time for itsaccomplishment. It greatly affect in my performance becausedespite the efforts and trying hard attitude to give my best to

students, it won’t be that easy and I know it is even harder tomaterialize.

    • The prepared lessons > scheduled taskDiscouraged, angry an d tried to continue the work.Less en thusiastic.

    • Task: Follow up students’ absences and grades.• Usually it is th e co verage o f the lessons th at will be left behind.

  • 8/18/2019 (8) Appendices

    13/23

    89

    • Doing classrooms structuring. Making lesson plan/ checking ofpapers/ r ecording results.

    • In seminars, trainings – n o unnished task. I always b ear in mindthat once I’m absent students need some work to be done in orderthat the cl ass w ill be u nruly.

    • There’s a gap of the lessons of the students for the quarter.• Even If some teachers will take over cl asses, the lessons / topics o f

the st udents a re n ot even especially if they h ave n ot recorded anyquiz/ assignment. It will cause a lot of stress.

    • Lessons – st udents will be behind.• Required output of the sem inars.• Expected tasks/activities t o be done by the students without the

presence of the teacher.• The task unnished done during my absence are the lesson plans,

checking of papers and recording. Because if I’m here I used my vacant time to write and all of the above.

Follow up question: How does it affect your performance?

    • My performance could be affected because lesson would not becarried out or achieved on that day done due to students’attendance. It may also lead to failing grades; therefore, increasenumber of students who will fail.

Usually it is th e c overage of the lessons that will be left behind. It will cause me stress because I have double my time in order to

catch up with the missed lessons.• As a teacher, it affects my performance since being a committed

teacher’s r esponsibility sh ould be done a ll the time.• Attitude is a great factor that will affect our performance.

Good seed – good fruitsBad seeds – bad inuences
