P&C Associations are an officially recognised forum where anyone interested in the welfare of government schools can meet to discuss educational issues. The objects of an association are to promote the interests of the school or group of schools for which it is formed through - (a) cooperation between parents, teachers, students and members of the general community; (b) assisting in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school or schools; and (c) the fostering of community interest in educational matters.
ALL WELCOME
P&C Chaplain’s Chat.
Welcome back to a wonderful new school year, it has been a great start and can only get better if we work together to maximize your child’s potential - and that can only happen if they are at school.
If you have any concerns please come and have a chat with us because your child’s welfare is our first concern.
The students all looked great in their uniforms and it is amazing that they make them small enough to fit our tiny Kindy students, who took to school so easily. The only tears were from parents - but Mrs Bassett had even thought of that and sent home a care packet with each parent…..even the ones who were smiling!

Swimmer’s Ear
With swimming classes beginning this
week, it may be timely to be aware of
Swimmer’s Ear. If the outer ear or ear canal
gets infected, it is called swimmer’s ear
(otitis externa), and while it is not caused
by water, it typically comes on if water
remains in the ear canal. This can cause the lining to become inflamed and
then bacteria or fungi multiply in the moist environment.
The hallmark symptom is a painful ear. There may be fever, but
not commonly. The canal may become red and swollen.
If this occurs see your doctor. Treatment is antibiotic drops and it’s important
to keep the ear dry until the infection clears.
Prevention includes using drops from the chemist after swimming to
evaporate water. For those prone to repeated infections, earplugs may be
helpful.
Back-to-school Nutrition
Thoughts of what to put in to the dreaded lunch box
each day can be daunting.
But before considering lunch, we need to ensure
your child eats breakfast every day. Our popular
breakfast club provides a nutritious and varied
breakfast for any student wishing to attend and
enjoy a healthy start to their school day. Breakfast
club is held in a specified area of the undercover
area every morning between 8.30 and 8.45am and
operated by school staff.
The sandwich remains a popular lunch. Choose wholegrain or multigrain bread in
preference to white. Fillings can be cold meats, vegetables or cheese or whatever
your child likes. Wraps are another option. Pack some carrot or celery sticks and
fruit.
A small pot of mixed seeds and dried fruits is a healthy recess snack. The best drink
during the day is water. Library News
Our library is a very colourful, vibrant and inviting place for students
to visit, both during class times and lunch times. For some kids it is a
haven or sanctuary where they can chill out, play games or read. It is
also an escape from the heat (or rain!) of the playground at this time
of the year.
Please remember that EVERY child needs a library bag so that they
can borrow books from the library. Preferably the library bag should
be sturdy. Ideally it would also be waterproof! With swimming
classes over the next 2 weeks, please help us, by reiterating to your
child the importance of keeping library bags away from their bathers
and towels, and also from leaky water bottles. Many books are
destroyed each year after being water damaged.
Library loans are for one week, after which the book must be
returned to the library. The books may be renewed if the child is still
reading them. Please remind your child to pop their library bag into
their school bag on library day.
Library books are exchanged on the following days:
