Nutritional Needs•Breakfast is the jump start to your bodies Battery!!• Eat something within 1-2 hours after you get out of bed•Breakfast is served daily in the cafeteria

NUTRITIONAL NEEDSThe following statements are excerpted from: Statement on the Link Between Nutrition and Cognitive Development in Children (1994) by the Center on Hunger, Poverty and Nutrition Policy at Tufts University.
"Children who attend school hungry have diminished attention spans and are unable to perform tasks as well as their nourished peers. In these cases, the full value of the education provided is lost."
"Nutritionally deprived children are unable to benefit fully from schooling which, in turn, diminishes their potential as adults."
"The benefits [of the School Breakfast Program] include higher performance on standardized tests, better school attendance, lowered incidence of anemia…”

Every student is encouraged to drink
water throughout the school day!
Athletes and PE students must drink at least 16 ounces of water 1-2 hours prior to practice/activity!!
Plan ahead!! Buy your water at lunchtime or bring it from home. Use your time between classes wisely to use the restroom. Plan ahead!!
Get Involved!! Be Active!! Join a club Have school spirit Attend sporting and extra-curricular events Be a scholar and a well rounded person –

• Students must have a pass to be seen in the clinic.• ALL medications (over the counter and prescription)
MUST be kept in the clinic and proper paperwork must accompany the meds.
• Clinic is open to all students with health needs• Health and academic achievement are directly
correlated -- our goal is for you to maintain good health!
• Feel free to use the clinic staff as a reference for Health/ PE, research related to health /disease.
• Students with special health needs should schedule an appointment to meet with Mrs. Fairbanks to discuss your needs!

Illness/ Injury – AbsenceNotify attendance for illness/injury – alert them
to any health concernsE-mail Mrs. Fairbanks (nurse) and your
guidance counsellor concerning any prolonged absences due to illness.
If you have an injury requiring you to use crutches, wheelchair or special needs-bring Dr.’s note to the clinic.
Advocate for your health needs! Battlefield staff cares about you and your academic success.
