Introducing the Speakers
Sing Mong Kee Sing Mong Kee joined NCS Pte Ltd as Practice Director, Transportation in June 2014. Before, he was General Manager of ST Electronics Abu Dhabi Office for two years.
He has over 30 years of working experience in the area of transportation engineering. He spent about 18 years in the Land Transport Authority and the defunct Public Works Department of Singapore involving in the planning, design and implementation of major transport infrastructures such as expressways, LRT and intelligent transport systems (ITS). He later spent about 10 years in ST Electronics designing, promoting and implementing ITS solutions in local and overseas markets.
He graduated in Civil Engineering from the Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat, Lyon,
France. He later obtained his Master of Science degree in Transport Planning and Engineering
from the Leeds University, United Kingdom.
He was the President of the Intelligent Transportation Society of Singapore (2004 to 2015). He was
a member of Board of Directors of ITS World Congress 2006 to 2015. He chaired the ITS Asia
Pacific Board of Directors (2006 to 2008). He won the Best Business Event Award in 2015.
David Hardoon Dr. David R. Hardoon is an Executive Director at Azendian Solutions Pte. Ltd. where he heads up
the advanced analytics practice and is responsible for the positioning of business analytics
advisory and services to clients across different business sectors across the region. Previous to his
current engagement he had established expertise in developing and applying computational
analytical models for business knowledge discovery and analysis through his involvement in a
number of research projects in the domains of taxonomy, neuroscience, aerospace and finance.
He received a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence with first class honors at Royal
Holloway, University of London in 2002 and a PhD in Computer Science in the field of Machine
Learning from the University of Southampton 2006. He is currently an Adjunct Faculty at School of
Information Systems, Singapore Management University and an Honorary Senior Research
Associate at the Centre for Computational Statistics & Machine Learning, University College
London.

Roshan PereraRoshan is a Partner within NMG’s Actuarial Consulting Solutions and has over 16 years' technical
and business development experience. He is a specialist in frontier, emerging, and developing
markets in Asia and offers strategic/technical support to companies operating within these
jurisdictions. Roshan has a broad range of technical skills in the insurance space including
reserving, pricing, reinsurance structuring, financial modelling, and strategy development. His
most recent projects have involved M&A advisory services for a number of recent transactions in
the region and the solvency framework development in the Philippines.
Loh Sheng Chieh
Sheng Chieh is a Consultant with NMG’s Actuarial Consulting Solutions and has been involved in
various statutory and advisory projects including stress testing, valuation of insurance liabilities
and pricing since joining NMG. Prior to NMG, Sheng Chieh was the Manager of the Enterprise Risk
Management & Actuarial Department for a large General Insurance company in Malaysia, where
she worked extensively on ICAAP and stress-testing. Sheng Chieh is an Associate of the Institute
of Actuaries Australia and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary.
Martin Noble Martin is the Deputy Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) General Insurance
Practice Board, and works as Chief Reserving Actuary of Zurich Insurance in the UK.
Martin’s role on the IFoA’s GI Practice Board includes a focus on enhancing IFoA member support
internationally, for example by supporting the new pilot initiative of a regional Asian working
party for interested IFoA and other affiliated actuaries. Martin is also involved in the Board’s on-
going strategic review of GI research, ensuring that current, emerging and future topics of interest
for GI actuaries attract study.
At Zurich Insurance, Martin’s role as CRA involves a wide range of responsibilities, including
performing his reserving oversight role, acting as Actuarial Business Partner to the UK Executive,
designing and implementing a response to Solvency II, and (last but not least) developing a team
of actuaries.
Prior to working at Zurich Insurance, Martin spent 7 years in Asia working in an audit and advisory
role with a ‘Big 4’ accountancy firm; Martin was based in Hong Kong, leading and supporting
projects across the Asia region. Martin originally qualified as an actuary in the UK.
Girinker Aggarwal Girinker is a nearly-qualified actuary working with XL Catlin as part of their ‘Reinsurance
Reserving’ and ‘Group Reporting’ teams for nearly 6 months now. Formerly, he worked with RSA
in their ‘Capital Modelling’ and ‘Catastrophe Modelling’ teams for about 5 years.
Specialising in risk-based capital assessments for their ‘Emerging Markets’ businesses (Asia, ME,
Latin America and, Central and Eastern Europe) for UK PRA reporting, using stochastic modelling
techniques through the software – IGLOO.
Additionally, he worked on large loss assessment to stochastically model losses and reinsurance as
part of the annual budgeting process for future years. Lastly, he pioneered the development of
RSA’s Catastrophe Risk Internal Model (now Solvency 2 approved) and played a pivotal role in
calibrating their world-wide catastrophe risk.
Roberto Malattia Rob joined Willis Towers Watson in April 2013 and prior to joining WTW worked for two primary
global insurance companies in a number of senior actuarial roles in London and Italy.
He brings almost 15 years of experience in the insurance industry and he has provided support
and consultancy services to insurance companies in over 20 countries worldwide.
He has performed a wide range of actuarial services from reserving and pricing to capital
optimisation and Enterprise Risk Management. Roberto’s key area of specialism is on ratemaking,
portfolio management, product design and Usage Based Insurance.
He is a regular speaker at seminars, conferences and professional events in Asia.
Rob is Fellow member of the Institute of Actuaries in the UK, Singapore Actuarial Society, Actuarial
Society of Malaysia, Actuarial Society of Thailand and Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and he holds
a Master in Insurance and Risk Management.
Dipti K Math
Dipti has gained valuable consulting experience in various projects involving Actuarial practices in
Employee Benefits having worked with Towers Watson (India) Benefits team in Mumbai for a
year. She holds two bachelor degrees, Bachelor of Science in Actuarial science and Bachelor of
Commerce in Banking & Insurance.
Dipti believes in the risk managing capabilities of Actuarial Science combined with Data Analytics
in safeguarding the future of various industries in a sustainable manner.
Snigdha Peruri
Snigdha is an actuarial student working with M/s K.A.Pandit Consultants and Actuaries. The
consultancy has the distinction of being the oldest actuarial firm of India. Her primary expertise lies
in the area of life insurance. She is currently involved in providing actuarial assistance to leading
insurance companies in Sri Lanka, the Gulf and Nepal.
She feels strongly about contributing towards betterment of the society and is deeply inclined
towards learning about and developing new and novel methods to ensure sustainable
development.
Matthias de
FerrieresIn Asia-Pacific since 2000, Matthias is a French citizen, married with a Singaporean wife and has 2
kids (2008-2010). An economist with a business & legal background (Chicago University – Chicago
Booth, Sydney University – Faculty of Law), he has over 16 years of experience in P&C insurance in
South-East Asia.
Matthias spent 15 years in AXA Asia where he started as an actuary in 2001 before coveringdifferent management positions focusing in transforming the fast growing organisation. RegionalCMO and Head of digital for the General Insurance side in ASIA, Matthias left the insurance giantin December 2014 to spearhead a series of local start-ups under the umbrella Stark Group PrivateLimited.
Stark Group Private Limited (www.stark-grp.com) is established in Singapore since January 2015. It
aspires to accelerate the crucial transformation and digitization of the insurance industry in Asia,
with particular focus in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
Daniel BurrenDaniel is the founder and director of the actuarial consultancy company ProMaSta Pte Ltd
(www.promasta.com), has a MSc in mathematical statistics and a PhD in economics, and is a fully
qualified actuary of the Swiss Association of Actuaries. Daniel has 7 years of experience in the
reinsurance sector and has published in several peer reviewed research journals including an
article in “Insurance Mathematics and Economics”.
Raj Yadav
Raj, a pricing Actuary with Swiss Re, is an experienced professional with expertise in insuranceand reinsurance pricing and application of analytics in multiple industries. He has close to 10years of experience in analytics and actuarial services field.
His areas of expertise include demand modelling in insurance, persistency management,generalized linear modelling for non-life insurance pricing, vehicle rating, loyalty cardmanagement and customer segmentation.
Raj holds a Bachelor degree in Technology in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute ofTechnology, Madras and he is a student member of Institute of Actuaries of India.
Valerie Gilles-CoeurValerie leads the Singapore Business Development team in Swiss Re. Based inSingapore, she is responsible for helping clients use reinsurance to improve theirtechnical efficiency and financial soundness.
Valerie has extensive experience in the Property and Casualty (P&C) direct andreinsurance business. Prior to joining Swiss Re, she was a regional actuary with ERGOAsia, where she supported subsidiaries on motor pricing, claims reserving and capitalmodelling. Before that, she was also with AXA for 15 years, where she headed theprocess for assessing the value of its P&C business, approving new products, andheaded the Research & Development team to build up components of the internalcapital model at AXA.
Valerie is a qualified actuary (Institut des Actuaires Francais) and holds a Master ofBusiness Administration for Executives from INSEAD.
Neil Covington Neil works as Director of Solutions Management GI for FIS’s Prophet solutions based out of the
UK. He is responsible for leading global GI solution strategy, direction and delivery, including
gathering and prioritizing solution and customer requirements, defining the solution vision, and
working closely with product development, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and
customer satisfaction goals are met. He works extensively with the insurance areas of FIS’s
customers and serves as a subject matter and solutions expert for FIS’s sales teams and
customers.
Neil’s background includes more than twenty years of actuarial experience in insurance, working
in both companies and consultancy. His deep background includes the design and development of
models, as well as experience using, interpreting and explaining them across the business and to
Boards. In previous roles, he served as Chief Actuary and Head Actuary for multi-line, multi-
national businesses.
Neil is a qualified UK actuary with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, FIA, and holds both a
Masters degree in Business Administration, MBA, and a first class honours degree in mathematics,
BSc. Additionally Neil is a certified Prince 2 project manager.
Colin Priest Colin is an Australian actuary with more than 25 years of experience, including 7 years in Asia.
Even though Colin's actuarial work has spanned a wide range of roles and lines of business, he has
also enjoyed non-traditional roles such as the CEO of a high-tech start-up company. In 2015 he
joined DataRobot as Director, Customer Success, Asia.
Colin is also a data scientist who has worked with big data and unstructured data, having designed
license plate recognition and face detection algorithms. He recently placed second in Kaggle's
"Denoising Dirty Documents" competition. His data science blog posts on www.colinpriest.com
have been read by thousands of people.
Colin has used machine learning approaches in several insurance projects, including quantitative
marketing, automatic detection of changes in mix of business, portfolio segmentation, price
elasticity modelling, pricing, renewal retention modelling, consumer sentiment tracking,
automatic detection of misselling practices, and intelligent management information dashboards.
David Piesse David is the Chairman of the International Insurance Society Ambassador (IIS) for Asia Pacific
reporting to New York Headquarters. The IIS, www.iisonline.org, is the only truly Global Insurance
Society in the world promoting new risk strategies and advice from the insurance industry.
David Piesse is the Chief Risk Officer and advisory board member of Guardtime
www.guardtime.com. He is a frequent speaker at cyber conference worldwide on cyber liability
and the use of blockchain technology for data centric security.
David Piesse is the Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific for Ultimate Risk Solutions, an
independent financial modelling company. He is in charge of looking after the URS clients,
marketing in the region and providing business models for clients in reinsurance strategies,
portfolio optimization, surplus allocation, asset liability matching, catastrophe risk, market risk,
operational and underwriting risk within an Enterprise Risk management platform. He is looking
to model the cyber risk with Dynamic Financial Analysis as soon as becomes possible.
David Piesse is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and the British Computer Society.
Yin Lawn
Yin is currently the certifying actuary of NTUC Income, heading its GI actuarial team.
Prior to his position at NTUC Income, he was a consulting actuary for various companies based in
Hong Kong and Taiwan for more than 14 years working on reserving, pricing, risk management,
and merger and acquisition projects. In addition, Yin has also been assisting Taiwan insurance
guaranty fund in their efforts to run-off failed insurance companies.
Originally from Taiwan, Yin is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society in US.
Toby WestonAfter joining Michael Page’s graduate scheme, Toby joined Oliver James Asia in 2012 and set up the
Asian division of the world’s largest actuarial search team. Based out of Hong Kong the team is now
made up of 3 dedicated consultants recruiting actuaries, and catastrophe modelers to over 10
countries in APAC.
Toby and his team have placed over 100 actuaries in the Asian region from entry level to Chief
Actuaries, and within insurance, reinsurance, consulting and investment banking. Additionally he is
the account manager for Oliver James’ General Insurance clients in Asia and co-ordinates
recruitment into all functions.
Anthony Atkins
Tony is an Associate DIrector of Ernst & Young Actuarial Services, based in Singapore and leading
the non-life actuarial team in South East Asia. He is a qualified actuary has over 8 years of
consulting experience in non-life insurance in Asia and Europe.
He has in-depth knowledge around the application of telematics technology in motor insurance.
He also specialises in insurance liability valuation, capital and risk management, due diligence and
portfolio management.
George Attard George joined Aon in 2008 and is based in Singapore. He has over 25 years of experience in financial services across property & casualty (re)insurance, banking and finance, life (re)insurance and pensions leading teams in consulting, analytics and underwriting.
As Head of Aon Benfield Analytics, International, George is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of Aon Benfield’s analytical capabilities to meet our client’s strategic risk and capital objectives. This includes Catastrophe Management, Actuarial, Regulatory & Rating Agency Advisory, Research & Product Innovation and other strategic and technical services.
George has a Bachelor of Economics, University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
