Be the best you can be.

Nursing:A degree that works for you.

You can obtain your baccalaureate nursing degree by completing courses designed

over an 8-semester period. That means you’re just four years away from a career that gives back just

as much as you put into it. According to the South Dakota Department of Labor, nearly 3,000

additional nurses will be needed in the state by 2014. An aging population and a high number of

RNs nearing retirement will help keep you in demand.

We are here for you. Literally.

The 8-semester program offers real-life teaching, advanced technology and simulated classroom

experiences to help enrich the learning process. A limited number of students are admitted each year in order to provide more

hands-on opportunities and total support of the teaching staff. The caring USF experience is an added bonus to getting a high-

quality education. Students will be eligible to apply for the nursing program after completing at least one semester of college

post-high school. Experience ison your side.

The director of the USFSchool of Nursing is Barbara

Vellenga. Barbara is a Ph.D.-prepared nurse

educator who used her nursing background to

spearhead a nursing program at Minnesota State

University Moorhead before joining the faculty at

USF. Her passion for the field and her enthusiasm

are contagious. As a student in the program, you

will have the advantages of working alongside role

models like Barbara as you take the exciting

journey towards your nursing degree.
