College Considerations:

How far away from home?Do they have what I’d like to study? If I change my mind, do they have lots of

things to study that interest me?What is the housing situation?Financial Aid packages?Do I want to live in a big town, rural area

or suburban school?

Page 18: 8/29/2015 Welcome to Junior/Senior Night! Kim Halket, Head Counselor, A - H Caroline Rubio, Counselor, I – N & AVID Talvin Sodhi, Counselor, O – Z & ELD.

04/21/23

How many colleges should I apply to?

It’s a good idea to apply to at least six. For some schools, there are no guarantees.

Shoot for your dream school, but have a list of several schools that you feel reasonably sure will accept you.

Make sure you have a “backup” school. Counselors can give you an idea of what last year’s acceptance data is like.
