Minneota mystery is unraveledRecently, the Mascot printed a story indicating
a man in Oregon had discovered the diploma of Marie Dovre of Minneota, dating back to 1918.
One of the signatures on the diploma was by a member of the school board named Tillemans but we weren’t sure who he was.
Mike Tillemans of this community unlocked
the mystery when he began to check it out.Turns out the man signing the agent docu-
ment was H. J. Tillemans, who was the president of the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Minneota.
H. J. Tilleman was the treasurer of the Min-neota School Board at the time the diploma was issued. He also was Mike Tillemans grandfather.
TractorIs there any doubt as to
Omer Laleman’s trade before he retired. This tractor is lit up in his yard each year on Jeffer-son Street in Minneota. Staff Photo by Byron Higgin.
