Seniors say farewell to high school, share memoriesI cannot believe how fast these four

years have gone. As a freshman I believed I ruled the school. Nobody could stop me. I was determined to be “cool”. The time went by all too fast.

One day I blinked and I was a sophomore picking out my class ring and still trying to discover myself. I took a short nap during math and I woke up a junior with new friends, new classes, and a new me. I tried so hard to keep both eyes open and capture every moment, but it still seemed to fl y by.

I turned around one day and here I am, a senior writing my farewell letter. All it will take is just one blink more and I will be reading this in the paper. Just a short nap later I will have a family and will be pursuing my career.

No matter how hard I will try to keep my eyes open, one day I will turn around and watch as my grandchildren send me their graduation announcements.

For now, however, I am going to walk across the stage with my peers as we start a new chapter of our lives. So for now I say thank you and farewell.

-Bailey Jackson

To all the students of FKHS, Being a senior is a mixture of emotions.

It’s very fun being a senior but it’s also very nerve racking. Sitting there making sure you have everything you need to graduate. You feel very excited because you’re on the verge of being an adult, sure your most likely 18 which is technically an “adult” but I mean actually being an adult. Also when you’re a senior you’re ready to get out of school but you realize once you’re about a week away from graduation you realize wait “I’m going to miss this place”. To upcoming lower classmen don’t worry you will get taller. I enjoyed spending my time at this school and getting to know everyone. I’ll see some of you in the future but until then, See you around.

-Jared Ryder

Farewell to my High School,

Saying goodbye to a place that has been like a second home to me for the last four years will not be easy. I have learned to be kind, to love, to change, to trust myself and others, and to grow all within these four walls. I am so thankful for the time spent here, I received a great education from won-

derful staff members here at FKHS.

I will always remember the memories I made here while I’m fi nding out who I’m going to be. Although, saying goodbye to my classmates and my school will be tough, this is the beginning of the rest of our lives. -Ryan Liddell

Looking back to my Freshman year, I was so excited to fi nally be in high school. Senior year seemed so far away. What I didn’t realize was how fast it would really come.

Now here we are and it’s almost over. I have learned that high school is NOT the “best days of my life”. It is a huge part of growing up and helping you become who you are but the end of high school is defi -nitely NOT the end. It is the beginning.

The beginning of our future and becom-ing who we want to be. I plan to embrace life to the fullest, chase my dreams, explore the world, give back, help others, and have lots of fun along the way. There is a whole world out there ready and waiting and I can’t wait to make the most of it.

I would like to send a special THANK YOU to all of the teachers and staff at Community Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School, and Field Kindley High School. It’s b een a great ride!

-Anna Pool

Dear High School,

Thank you for granting me the best four years of my life so far. I’ve learned so much academically, but even more important than that, I’ve learned the skills that I will need as I take these next steps toward my future. I’ve met so many great people that I will always remember and smile when I think about the great memories we made. I especially loved my swim girls and coach and fellow band geeks.

I’ve had a great system of support from my teachers and family, as well. Thank you, teachers, for challenging me and granting me the knowledge so that I’ll be ready for the future. Special thanks to Mr. Littrell and Mr. Hart for teaching me the tough stuff, AP Biology and Calculus. I also thank my family greatly for helping me out with those classes at times and for always being there

for me. I’m glad that I will continue to have them as my support system and number one fans as I continue in my journey.

Leaving this part of my life behind is a bittersweet step for me, but I know that I’m well prepared thanks to my experiences. I will always remember this time of my life and the great memories I have to keep. Thank you again, high school, and wish me luck as I pursue my dreams.

Farewell,

Meaghan Rettele

Th is year the Field Kindley softball team has been busy playing and practicing softball under head coach Megan Shook, along with assistant coaches Ashley Roper and Trey Thompson.

This is her fourth year as the head coach and has coached the team fi ve years in all. Coach Shook has a extensive softball record.

She started playing when she was six years old. She played on Traveling teams by the age of eight and started varsity all four years of High School.

After high school she played at Emporia State University. Coach Shook likes nearly everything about coaching. She is able to share all the things she has learned big and small with her players. Although it is hard to impact the game from the sidelines, this season however has been rocky.

“If I’m being honest the season has been incredibly disappointing. I say that from a place of high expectations from my team. We are a great team but we haven’t shown up,” Shook said. “We haven’t beaten the teams that we should beat. We haven’t produced the runs we should. We have, however, grown a ton defensively and been able to learn from some of our downfalls this year.”

The team chemistry is great, and it is “Drama-Free”. It is something they work on. This year’s seniors are Eryn Cox and

Brionna Turner. To prepare for a game they work hard on defense and get live hitting.

The support from the community is good compared to years past but according to Shook, “We could always stand a bit more support though”. To generate interest in the community, coach Shook intends to have a skills clinic for girls age 7-13 this summer.

“Well I moved back here to be of service to the program and to help reestablish it

as a winning program and I don’t plan on leaving until we get that done,” Shook said.

Shook’s greatest accomplishment is a “Team full of them.” To see where they were and where they are now is great. She gets lots of satisfaction from their growth.

Also having years of consistent losing and the last few to grab some wins is awesome. “I’m defi nitely not satisfi ed with that though,” Shook said.

Junior Eliza Dixon, a catcher, who has been playing since she could hold a bat. She likes that softball pushes her to be great.

She likes everything about the game. She hopes as the season goes on and comes to a close and they can play as “We” instead of “I”. Her favorite game has been Parsons. They lost but the team started to come together after that.

Dixon is number four, because of her big brother Matt. She prefers home games because of the added pressure to do well and a “chance to showcase our talent and abilities when we choose to do so.”

“Just a special thanks to Shookie. I wouldn’t be the player I am right now or the player I’m going to be without her always pushing me to be my best on and off the fi eld,” Dixon said.

Now isn’t that just sweet? Now everyone go support the girls at Regionals in Altamont on Monday!

Ready for the pitch, senior Eryn Cox is in position for a hit in the game against Ft. Scott .
