September 16, 2005September 16, 2005Maritime bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) asked the CSOs to suspend making weather observation reports due to exposure of ship’s callsign and position on public websites.
MLIT asked the CSOs to resume making weather observation reports by using dummy callsign “SHIP”.
Since then, JMA had discussed with relevant parties (Shipowners’ Association, MLIT, Coast Guard) to seek for measures to resume making weather observation reports.
