9 June 2020 Week 5 – Term 7 PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Parents and Carers, I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. It is always nice to have an extra day with family. As you can see our fence is taking shape quickly. We will have some trees trimmed this week to accommodate the new fence height. Our Kindergarten and Year 1 students have expressed their delight in being able to play with their older buddies in the new playground when the fence is complete. It will be wonderful to have a safe and inclusive playground. A shout out to our hardworking teachers who are busy completing student assessments and preparing student reports, which will be sent home on Monday 29th June. A big thanks to all of the Parents/Carers who have sent in report comments for the remote learning. We have forged such a strong learning partnership during a time of challenge. It is not too late to have your comment published on your child’s report. Please click the following link or request a paper copy to be sent home with your child. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScbFOlorYhCJ8EWatsJnW664-UrCcZWbUVeO__1wXGeLa- gpA/viewform?usp=sf_link We are transitioning our students back to full time learning and looking at ways that we can facilitate strong routines and happy activities despite our social distancing measures. Miss De-Nobrega is co-ordinating our dance group which is open to all students K-6. The dance group was one of our highlights at our annual presentation day, last year. The students practice twice a week with Miss D. Mrs Bell and Mr Windsor are taking classes out each week to teach and run athletics events. The students are enjoying this immensely. Students will be presented with ribbons at the end of this term. Mrs Ellsmore is co-ordinating a Year 5 STEM challenge. Students in Year 5 will engage with the digital printers to design and create an object. This challenge will enrich student experience in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We are hosting an Art competition to showcase our talented students. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for each grade. The theme of the artworks is “gratitude”. Students will complete artworks at school and will be published on our website as a virtual art gallery. We are asking students to pay $3 to enter the competition and all funds raised will go towards covering some of the cost of installing a filtered water bottle filling station in the playground. Have a terrific week everyone. Sharon Rigg Principal

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.

CHILD PROTECTION LESSONS

During Week 7 and 8 this term our students will engage in Child Protection lessons taught by their classroom teachers. Through Child Protection Education in NSW, schools students learn: · about feeling safe and their right to be safe · to recognise appropriate touching and inappropriate touching · that appropriate touching is an important part of positive relationships · that they have a right to say NO to a person who touches them inappropriately or threatens their

safety · that it is important to tell trusted adults about such situations · that they may have to keep on telling people until they are believed · that help is available to them within their communities. If you have any questions related to the teaching of Child Protection, please contact your child’s class teacher to discuss.

MANAGED RETURN TO SCHOOL

Schools are now also receiving an additional clean during the day in line with AHPPC guidance. This includes cleaning frequently touched areas in bathrooms after recess, as well as replenishing supplies such as soap and hand towels that are provided by the school. High touch surfaces such as balustrades and handrails in the playground and stairwells are also wiped with disinfectant. Please keep your child/children home if they are unwell.
