The Annual Campaign is a yearly programme within the King’s Foundation which offers the opportunity to contribute to projects and aspects of education which cannot be funded through the fees alone.

Even the smallest gift, when combined with those of other members of the community makes an immediate and significant difference to the school, and provides the stability for King’s to plan for the future.

In recent years, the Annual Campaign has enabled the School to finance a number of projects, which include:

- A major contribution to the SPACE Campaign and equipment for The Keyes Building- Two new bursaries- New benches in the school gardens and playing fields- Video screens for the Library and Dining Hall

Fellowship Bursaries

The Assisted Places and Direct Grant Schemes ended nearly 20 years ago. Since then, we have been committed to trying to replace the schemes of the past with our own bursary funding.

The number of bursaries awarded to pupils has more than trebled over the past decade, from the equivalent of 15 full fees in 2000 to close to 47 full fees in 2014, but demand far outstrips our capacity to support these highly deserving candidates.

The Fellowship Bursary scheme encourages OVs, parents and friends of King’s to join together to share the cost of supporting a bursary. Donations to this fund are spent as they are received.

A modest monthly donation (less than the cost of a daily coffee) mirrored by your group of friends could finance a greater number of bursaries and help recover the ground lost since the demise of the Assisted Places initiative.

Donald Anderton Memorial Boat

Donald Anderton (Hon OV 58-88) passed away in September 2014. To commemorate Donald and the thirty years of service he gave to the King’s School, Worcester, the Boat Club would like to purchase and name a new boat in his honour.

Projects

Each year, staff suggest projects for the Annual Campaign which will directly and immediately impact our pupils. All projects for which we are seeking financial support are on a modest scale and will be realised within the next year. The key projects for 2014/15 are:

Lego Kit £300The Robotics Club enter the First Lego League competition each year, and new, modern kit on which to practise means they will be well equipped for the event.

Air Rifles £800 eachTwo air rifles for the CCF, together with the accompanying bag, additional magazines and air bottles. The CCF will benefit from using modern air rifles, which are more easily and flexibly used and maintained than regular rifles; these rifles will allow for better marksmanship training.

IT Facilities for Study Library in Choir House £1,500Equipment for the English Department’s newly inaugurated Study Library in Choir House, to include computers, a printer, books and other resources.

Lighting Control Desk in the John Moore Theatre £8,000A state of the art Lighting Control Desk to be used by the Theatre Department for all theatrical events in the John Moore Theatre. The Desk would also be a valuable teaching aid for the ever-developing Technical Theatre Club.

“An amazing school which offers a wealth of opportunity and a

supportive network that sets you up for a bright future.”

Kings Trust - Portrait.indd 10 12/03/2015 17:06

Why Give?

We are committed to keeping the fees as low as possible, and fee income is spent on the operational costs of running the school.

We aspire to ensure that the excellent level of education and pastoral care offered at King’s is maintained for generations to come. Your participation in the Annual Campaign provides much of the additional enrichment which drives King’s forward.

“The generosity and goodwill of the community associated with the King’s School is a critical factor in the school’s success, and has enabled it to go from strength to strength in recent times. The additional financial support we receive from parents, Old Vigornians and friends makes a huge contribution to life at King’s and will continue to be crucial to our future.”

Matthew Armstrong, Headmaster

Tax Efficient Giving

Gift Aid increases the value of your donation by 25p for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you. If you are a UK tax payer then we can increase the value of your donation by 25% making every £100 worth £125. Simply complete the declaration on the form.

If you are a higher rate tax payer then you can also reclaim 25% or 31.25% of your donation and offset some of your own tax liability by helping The King’s School, Worcester. It could cost you half of what we gain.

By supporting the Annual Campaign, additional resources will help our pupils get the very best from their time at The King’s School, Worcester. We will thank all our supporters in the 2014/15 Development Trust Newsletter. If you wish to remain anonymous, please state this clearly on the gift form.
