Greeter Schedule
URURUR---WWWAYAYAY TTTESTESTEST
This week’s meeting will include students from our local
Rotaract Club and Interact Clubs.
We will hear from each club, meet some of their members,
and learn more about their plans for the coming year.
Last week’s program was brought to us by our 2010-2011 GRSP
student Benjamin Ikaal. He comes to us from Kenya where he is
sponsored by the Bungoma South Rotary Club in Bungoma, Kenya.
After his year in the US, Benjamin hopes to return to Kenya and study
pharmacy. Benjamin is slowly getting acclimated to our South Georgia
lifestyle. With all of our delicious southern cooking, he says his favorite
American food so far is a burger.
Rotarian and GRSP Host Jack Hartley introduced Benjamin and assisted
with the presentation.
Myrna Ballard pulled double duty last
week serving as a greeter and then
bringing our Sunshine Report.
While she claimed to have little interest in
football, she did share a few interesting
team facts that her husband assured the
club would enjoy. Myrna, you can report
that the club did indeed find these very
important team facts informative and
funny!

Today’s Program
Rotaract Club and Interact Club Updates
The Rotary Club of Valdosta is proud to sponsor one Rotaract Club
and four local Interact Clubs. The Rotaract Club of Valdosta State
University is in its second year at VSU. The four Interact Club’s are at
Georgia Christian School, Lowndes High School, Valdosta High School
and Valwood School.
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women
ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based,
and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true
"partners in service" and key members of the family of Rotary.
As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service
programs, with more than 7,000 clubs in about 163 countries and
geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members
addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting
international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship
and service.
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14
to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which
provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-
supporting.
Club membership varies greatly. Clubs can be single gender or mixed,
large or small. They can draw from the student body of a single school or
from two or more schools in the same community. Interact has a
membership of over 250,000 youth in more than 11,000 clubs world-
wide. It’s one of Rotary’s fastest growing programs. With clubs in over
120 countries and geographical areas, Interact is also an international
phenomenon.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service
projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.
Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with
local and overseas clubs.
Interact’s global youth network is dedicated to community and
international service. Every Interact club project, great or small, has a
lasting impact on society worldwide. Brazil, India, the Philippines, and
the United States boast the highest number of Interact clubs.
Benjamin Ikaal (l) and Jack Hartley (r) pause for a quick picture before
Benjamin heads back to class at Valdosta State University.
