Simplicity of Operation
The new lift and suspension system allowsboth the cutterbar and the inner shoe to be raised off the ground using only themower’s hydraulic cylinder, simplifyingoperation and increasing productivity. Thetractor’s 3pt hitch stays at the same presetheight.
Full range of operating capability
The new suspension system providesbuilt-in capability for mowing terracesand banks. The operating range is a full+ or - 35 degrees.
Even floatation over theentire cutterbar
A heavier compensating spring ensuresthe cutterbar will operate with optimumground pressure through a wide range ofterrain and contours.
Attachment and parking
The new G II suspension system elimi-nates the need for a parking stand by locking out the suspension spring with aparking latch. Once unhooked the moweris free standing and the 3pt frame is locked horizontally for fast attachmentthe next time the mower is used. (GMD 600 / 700 / 800 - GII).
Semi-automatic Belt Tension
Belts are automatically readjusted duringnew belt run-in. They feature easy andaccurate adjustment of belt tension. And, a KUHN exclusive, proper pulley-to-pulley dimension is maintainedregardless of the load on the belts forincreased belt life. (GMD 600 / 700 /800 - GII).

Detailed view of the internal components of the GMD Series 100 & 100 Generation II cutterbars
Some disc mowers may look like a KUHN from the outside. However what is on the inside is more important. KUHN’s design and construction standards ensure a long life and reliableoperation.
The substandard design and construction of an inexpensive machine can lead to expensiverepairs and time loss in the field.
Withstands the highest loads: High capacity bearings-fitted in a one piece sealed housing not subject to distorsion.
Protection should an obstacle be struck: The PROTECTADRIVE® system is designed to protect the cutterbar gear train andminimizes downtime risks in full season.
Long-term reliability: Large diameter gearwheels in high tensile forged steel with reinforced teeth.
Perfect sealing: O-rings used on cutterbar bearing housings for a perfect, leak-free seal.
Increased service life: Disc pinion shaft bearings endure radial forces for longest bearing life. This optimum position improves the load balance.
Minimum wear or distortion risks: Idler gear fasteners are located in heat treated steels cups. Correct alignment is ensured without the risk of distortion.
Highly wear resistant: Knife attachment hardware is fully protected. For added safety, heat treated steel cups are welded to the disc.

Protective disc guards and skid shoes
1. Heat- treated steel skid shoes fitted oneither disc ends ensure contact betweenthe cutterbar and the soil.
2. Heat-treated disc guards protect theother discs.
Attached to the front of the bar and to therear stiffener, they make replacement asimple procedure. These heat-treatedparts are important in stony or sandysoils
Deflector shields
Wear blocks fitted between the discguards protect the cutterbar. Knives bentdown by contact with an obstacle aregenerally prevented from striking the cutterbar. These shields also protect the cutterbar from the abrasive effects of soiland debris moving with the cut crop.

Transport width isminimised without restrictingvisibility to the rear.In addition the following func-tions can be performed fromthe tractor seat:1. Cutterbar raised and lowe-red from the field transport position through the use of only one hydraulic controllever.2. Raising and locking the cutterbar into road transportposition3. Unlocking and lowering the cutterbar from the roadtransport position.
More features for: Safety, Simplicity & Ease of Operation
Safety breakaway mechanism
Should an obstacle be encountered, thesafety breakaway allows the mower toswing slightly rearwards, significantlyreducing the impact load on the cutter-bar. The device is simply reset by backingup.
A feature exclusive to Kuhn, one tool for all adjustments
One tool, supplied with the mower, willperform all of the following:- Adjustment of the floatation spring- Belt tension adjustment- Replacement of knives- Removal of discs- Unlocking the safety cover.
Constant hitch height
Once in the field position, the hitch heightdoesn’t need to be adjusted. To ensure the proper hitch height and floatationadjustment, a heavy-duty check chain issupplied as standard equipment.

Outer swath wheel for perfectswath formation (standard)
Used as an improvement over a swathboard, the swath wheel is mountedbehind the outer disc cone and functionsto separate the cut crop from the uncutcrop allowing the right tractor wheels todrive over the ground instead of the previously cut crop. The advantages ofthe swath wheel over a swath board are:- fits entirely under the curtain- not touching the ground so damage by
backing or turning is eliminated.
Inner swath wheel for GMD 600 - GII (optional equipment)
Reduces the swath width on the GMD 600 - GII to approximately 1.50 m/4’11’’/1.60 m/5’3”wide.
2nd Inner high cone for GMD 700 - GII(optional equipment)
To reduce swath width on these mowers, the second flat disc is replaced with a high cone that reduces the swath width to approximately 1.70 m/5’7” - 1.80 m/5’11”
High quality, clean, hayand forage is the key togetting the productivitydesired from a herd. KUHNoffers several standardand optional features thatallow the swath to be tai-lored to what best suitsspecific operational needs.

One goal: Harvest a highly nutritional crop for maximum quality!
Disc mowersGMD series 100 / 100 - GII
Amount of dry matter/hectare and nutritional value per ton ofDM/ha: aim the highest levels!
• Give hay a good place in the feeding operation to save on concen-trates,
• For the cheapest and best-balanced base ration, rely on hay and hay silage. The more the field produces energy, proteins andminerals, the lesser additives are required.
Aim for highly nutritional hay crop at a lower cost!
Careful mowing to obtain high value hay! - Mow at the stage adapted to the harvesting method, hay or hay silage,- Harvest clean high quality hay to improve the intake and energy coverage capacity as well as the digestibility.- Increase the number of cuttings per year (starting earlier).
Preserve the field- Its lifetime: if the plant deteriorates itself, temporary pastures/fields must be renewed more rapidly which means additional costs,- Its quality: if forage varieties are destroyed, lower value forage varieties could settle causing hay silage or hay value to drop.
Bank on hay: give yourself the means with KUHN Disc mowers! The more you demand of your hay crop, the more it will have to behandled carefully.
126 ways to harvest all the crop’s value and how, by listening to farmers’ needs, KUHN has improved its equipment
No. 2: A clean, even cut
To prevent leaf loss or damage to plants that risk then being affected by illnesses, diseases, only forage must be harvested.KUHN Advantages: - The disc mower bevelled knives ensure a high quality clean, even cut,- The oval-shaped discs, and compact and streamlined profile of the cutterbar reduces
soil and crop residue accumulation.
No. 1: Mowing at a cuttingheight of 5 to 7 cm
1st reason: Less impurity is moved intothe crop, not only when mowing but alsoduring the whole forage harvesting operations, tedding and raking.
2nd reason: increased high-valueforage varieties. The crop yield is reduced if cut to close to the ground, which allows undesirable weeds andplants to grow.
3rd reason: increased crop yield andproductivity; by taking care of new budswhich will form the plant and build up itsreserves; by preserving the tillering basewhich composes the sugar reserves of theplant and the new buds.An intensively worked crop is more sensitive to accidents and stresses asplants are not deeply rooted.KUHN Advantage: An ideal and constant cutting height isobtained by simple adjustment of the toplink.
No. 3: Grass must be cut notchopped!
The crop is quickly ejected into the swathand is only cut once.
KUHN Advantage:The crop is quickly ejected into the swathand is only cut once. On mowers where anumber of discs turn the same way thereis a double-cutting effect on the crop (On5 and 7 disc machines, only the two innerdiscs turn the same way). Double cuttingof the crop causes higher crop losses, delays regrowth and increases the powerrequirement on the tractor.

KUHN supports farmers wanting to make best use of their hay fieldsand reduce hay crop production costs!
Disc mowersGMD series 100 / 100 - GII
No. 4: field conditions
Some conditions are difficult to control:moles, drought, floods, whereas, grassstubble destruction can be avoided bychoosing the proper mower. The more thehay fields are productive, the more theyare sensitive to damage. Therefore giveyourself the tool to preserve them.Otherwise, deeply rooted plants whichare often undesirable (rumex, dande-lions, etc) would develop.KUHN Advantage: Perfect follo-wing of irregular grounds. With an ideally designed floatation system KUHN disc mowers reduce theamount of down pressure required foruniform mowing. Skid shoe wear anddamage to the cutterbar and grass stubble is reduced.
No. 5: Mow at the right time
For silage hay even more than for hay, harvesting at the right stage means collecting the full value of forage plants:sugars, proteins, minerals and dry matter. Therefore, when good weather conditionsand plant stage is ready, it’s time to mow.You can also postpone mowinguntil the afternoon rather than mowing inthe morning when the soil and grass arestill wet.
KUHN Advantages:- The disc mower floatation that allows
appropriate working speeds,- The machine’s reliabi-lity - the mower
won’t let you down during mowing operations,
- Easy swath clearing and headland turnmaneuvering thanks to the single cylinder operated lift linkage,
- Cutting width adapted to the workingsurface.
