Guidelines for servicing electrical equipment
Observe the following guidelines when servicing electrical equipment:
v Check the area for electrical hazards such as moist floors, non-grounded powerextension cords, and missing safety grounds.
v Use only approved tools and test equipment. Some hand tools have handles thatare covered with a soft material that do not provide insulation from liveelectrical current.
v Regularly inspect and maintain your electrical hand tools for safe operationalcondition. Do not use worn or broken tools or testers.
v Do not touch the reflective surface of a dental mirror to a live electrical circuit.The surface is conductive and can cause personal injury or equipment damage ifit touches a live electrical circuit.
v Some rubber floor mats contain small conductive fibers to decrease electrostaticdischarge. Do not use this type of mat to protect yourself from electrical shock.
v Do not work alone under hazardous conditions or near equipment that hashazardous voltages.
v Locate the emergency power-off (EPO) switch, disconnecting switch, or electricaloutlet so that you can turn off the power quickly in the event of an electricalaccident.
v Disconnect all power before you perform a mechanical inspection, work nearpower supplies, or remove or install main units.
v Before you work on the equipment, disconnect the power cord. If you cannotdisconnect the power cord, have the customer power-off the wallbox thatsupplies power to the equipment and lock the wallbox in the off position.
v Never assume that power has been disconnected from a circuit. Check it tomake sure that it has been disconnected.
v If you have to work on equipment that has exposed electrical circuits, observethe following precautions:

Make sure that another person who is familiar with the power-off controls isnear you and is available to turn off the power if necessary.
When you are working with powered-on electrical equipment, use only onehand. Keep the other hand in your pocket orbehind your back to avoidcreating a complete circuit that could cause an electrical shock.
When using a tester, set the controls correctly and use the approved probe
leads and accessories for that tester. Stand on a suitable rubber mat to insulate you from grounds such as metal
floor strips and equipment frames.
v Use extreme care when measuring high voltages.
v To ensure proper grounding of components such as power supplies, pumps,blowers, fans, and motor generators, do not service these components outside oftheir normal operating locations.
v If an electrical accident occurs, use caution, turn off the power, and send anotherperson to get medical aid.
Inspecting for unsafe conditions
Use this information to help you identify potential unsafe conditions in an IBMproduct that you are working on.
Each IBM product, as it was designed and manufactured, has required safety itemsto protect users and service technicians from injury. The information in this sectionaddresses only those items. Use good judgment to identify potential unsafeconditions that might be caused by attachment of non-IBM features or options thatare not addressed in this section. If you identify an unsafe condition, you mustdetermine how serious the hazard is and whether you must correct the problem
before you work on the product.
Consider the following conditions and the safety hazards that they present:
v Electrical hazards, especially primary power. Primary voltage on the frame cancause serious or fatal electrical shock.
v Explosive hazards, such as a damaged CRT face or a bulging capacitor.
v Mechanical hazards, such as loose or missing hardware.
To inspect the product for potential unsafe conditions, complete the followingsteps:
1. Make sure that the power is off and the power cords are disconnected.
2. Make sure that the exterior cover is not damaged orbroken, and observe anysharp edges.
3. Check the power cords:
v Make sure that the third-wire ground connector is in good condition. Use a
meter to measure third-wire ground continuity for 0.1 ohm or less betweenthe external ground pin and the frame ground.
v Make sure that the power cords are the correct type.
v Make sure that the insulation is not frayed or worn.
4. Check for pinched cables.

Danger noticesDANGER
When working on or around the system, observe the following precautions:
Electrical voltage and current from power, telephone, and communicationcables are hazardous. To avoid a shock hazard:v Connect power to this unit only with the IBM provided power cord. Do notuse the IBM provided power cord for any other product.
v Do not open or service any power supply assembly.v Do not connect or disconnect any cables or perform installation,maintenance, or reconfiguration of this product during an electrical storm.
v The product might be equipped with multiple power cords. To remove allhazardous voltages, disconnect all power cords.
v Connect all power cords to a properly wired and grounded electrical outlet.Ensure that the outlet supplies proper voltage and phase rotation accordingto the system rating plate.
v Connect any equipment that will be attached to this product to properlywired outlets.
v When possible, use one hand only to connect or disconnect signal cables.v Never turn on any equipment when there is evidence of fire, water, orstructural damage.
v Disconnect the attached power cords, telecommunications systems,networks, and modems before you open the device covers, unlessinstructed otherwise in the installation and configuration procedures.
v Connect and disconnect cables as described in the following procedureswhen installing, moving, or opening covers on this product or attacheddevices.
To disconnect:1. Turn off everything (unless instructed otherwise).2. Remove the power cords from the outlets.3. Remove the signal cables from the connectors.4. Remove all cables from the devices.
To connect:1. Turn off everything (unless instructed otherwise).2. Attach all cables to the devices.3. Attach the signal cables to the connectors.4. Attach the power cords to the outlets.5. Turn on the devices.

Use the following general safety information for all rack-mounted devices.
DANGER
Observe the following precautions when working on or around your IT racksystem:v Heavy equipment personal injury or equipment damage might result ifmishandled.
v Always lower the leveling pads on the rack cabinet.v Always install stabilizer brackets on the rack cabinet.v To avoid hazardous conditions due to uneven mechanical loading, alwaysinstall the heaviest devices in the bottom of the rack cabinet. Always installservers and optional devices starting from the bottom of the rack cabinet.
v Rack-mounted devices are not to be used as shelves or work spaces. Do notplace objects on top of rack-mounted devices.
v Each rack cabinet might have more than one power cord. Be sure todisconnect all power cords in the rack cabinet when directed to disconnectpower during servicing.
v Connect all devices installed in a rack cabinet to power devices installed inthe same rack cabinet. Do not plug a power cord from a device installed inone rack cabinet into a power device installed in a different rack cabinet.
v An electrical outlet that is not correctly wired could place hazardousvoltage on the metal parts of the system or the devices that attach to thesystem. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the outlet iscorrectly wired and grounded to prevent an electrical shock.

CAUTION:v Do not install a unit in a rack where the internal rack ambient temperatureswill exceed the manufacturers recommended ambient temperature for all yourrack-mounted devices.
v Do not install a unit in a rack where the air flow is compromised. Ensure thatair flow is not blocked or reduced on any side, front, or back of a unit usedfor air flow through the unit.
v Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to thesupply circuit so that overloading of the circuits does not compromise thesupply wiring or overcurrent protection. To provide the correct powerconnection to a rack, refer to the rating labels located on the equipment in the
rack to determine the total power requirement of the supply circuit.v (For sliding drawers) Do not pull out or install any drawer or feature if the rackstabilizer brackets are not attached to the rack. Do not pull out more than onedrawer at a time. The rack might become unstable if you pull out more thanone drawer at a time.
v (For fixed drawers) This drawer is a fixed drawer and must not be moved forservicing unless specified by the manufacturer. Attempting to move thedrawer partially or completely out of the rack might cause the rack to becomeunstable or cause the drawer to fall out of the rack.

CAUTION:Removing components from the upper positions in the rack cabinet improvesrack stability during relocation. Follow these general guidelines whenever yourelocate a populated rack cabinet within a room or building:v Reduce the weight of the rack cabinet by removing equipment starting at thetop of the rack cabinet. When possible, restore the rack cabinet to theconfiguration of the rack cabinet as you received it. If this configuration is not
known, you must observe the following precautions: Remove all devices in the 32U position and above. Ensure that the heaviest devices are installed in the bottom of the rackcabinet.
Ensure that there are no empty U-levels between devices installed in therack cabinet below the 32U level.
v If the rack cabinet you are relocating is part of a suite of rack cabinets, detachthe rack cabinet from the suite.
v Inspect the route that you plan to take to eliminate potential hazards.v Verify that the route that you choose can support the weight of the loadedrack cabinet. Refer to the documentation that comes with your rack cabinet forthe weight of a loaded rack cabinet.
v Verify that all door openings are at least 760 x 230 mm (30 x 80 in.).v Ensure that all devices, shelves, drawers, doors, and cables are secure.v Ensure that the four leveling pads are raised to their highest position.v Ensure that there is no stabilizer bracket installed on the rack cabinet duringmovement.
v Do not use a ramp inclined at more than 10 degrees.v When the rack cabinet is in the new location, complete the following steps: Lower the four leveling pads. Install stabilizer brackets on the rack cabinet. If you removed any devices from the rack cabinet, repopulate the rackcabinet from the lowest position to the highest position.
v If a long-distance relocation is required, restore the rack cabinet to theconfiguration of the rack cabinet as you received it. Pack the rack cabinet in
the original packaging material, or equivalent. Also lower the leveling pads toraise the casters off of the pallet and bolt the rack cabinet to the pallet.

IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances are purpose-built, easy-to-deploynetwork appliances that simplify, help secure, and accelerate your XML and Web
services deployments while extending your SOA infrastructure. These appliancesoffer an innovative, pragmatic approach to harness the power of SOA whilesimultaneously enabling you to leverage the value of your existing application,security, and networking infrastructure investments.
Who should read this document
This document is intended for lab personnel who are responsible for the followingactivities:
v Installing rails in the rack frame for the DataPower appliance
v Installing a DataPower appliance in the rack
v Performing the base, initial configuration of a DataPower appliance
Model types
The Type 9235 appliance has 15 model types. You can separate these model typesinto the following general product categories that you can differentiate by chassiscolor:
IBM WebSphere DataPower XML Accelerator XA35The DataPower XA35 has a green chassis. There is only one model type.
IBM WebSphere DataPower XML Security Gateway XS40The DataPower XS40 has a yellow chassis. There are four model types.
IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50
The DataPower XI50 has a blue chassis. There are eight model types.
IBM WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB60The DataPower XB60 has a purple chassis. There is one model type
IBM WebSphere DataPower Low Latency Messaging Appliance XM70The DataPower XM70 has a silver chassis. There is one model type
Each general product category, except the DataPower XA35, has one of thefollowing hardware configurations for auxiliary data storage:
v Compact flash
v Hard disk array
You can differentiate these configurationsby looking at the rear of the chassis. Thecompact flash configuration does not have ventilations holes, while the hard diskarray configuration has ventilation holes.
All models in the DataPower XS40 and DataPower XI50 product categories cancome with hardware security module (HSM). You can differentiate theseconfigurationsby looking at the front of the chassis. These configurations have aPED connector.
All models in the DataPower XI50 product category can come with an internalXML generation four (XG4) accelerator card. You cannot differentiate these models

by looking at the chassis. The only way to know whether you have a model withthis XML accelerator card is to look at the version status provider:
v From the command line, enter show version command.
v From the WebGUI, select STATUS System Version Information.
Table 1 lists the 13 model types as listed on the Service Card in the fan modules.

Hardware and software requirementsThe IBM WebSphere DataPower SOAAppliances: Documentation CD requires thefollowing minimum hardware and software:
v Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Red Hat Linux
v 100 MHz microprocessor
v 32 MB RAM
v Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 (or later) or xpdf, which comes with Linux operatingsystems
Using the Documentation CDUse the Documentation Browser to browse the contents of the CD, read briefdescriptions of the documents, and view documents, using Adobe Acrobat Readeror xpdf. The Documentation Browser automatically detects the regional settings inuse in your system and presents the information in the language for that region (ifavailable). If a topic is not available in the language for that region, theEnglish-language version is displayed.
Use one of the following procedures to start the Documentation Browser:
v If Autostart is enabled, insert the CD into the CD-RW/DVD drive. TheDocumentation Browser starts automatically.
v If Autostart is disabled or is not enabled for all users:
For Windows operating systems
1. Insert the CD into the CD-RW/DVD drive
2. Click Start Run.
3. In the Open field, type e:\win32.bat; where e is the drive letter ofyour CD-RW/DVD drive

For Red Hat Linux operating systems
1. Insert the CD into the CD-RW/DVD drive
2. Run the following command from the /mnt/cdrom directory:
sh runlinux.sh
Select Type 9235 from the Product menu. The Available Topics list displays all thedocuments for your product. Some documents might be in folders. A plus sign (+)indicates each folder or document that has additional topics under it. Click theplus sign to display the additional documents.
When you select a document, a description of the document appears under TopicDescription. To select more than one document, press and hold the Ctrl key whileyou select the documents. Click View Book to view the selected document ordocuments in Acrobat Reader or xpdf. If you selected more than one document, allthe selected documents are opened in Acrobat Reader or xpdf.
To search all the documents, type a word or word string in the Search field andclick Search. The documents in which the word or word string appears are listedin order of the most occurrences. Click a document to view it, and press Ctrl+F touse the Acrobat search function, or press Alt+F to use the xpdf search functionwithin the document.

Power supply modulesThe Type 9235 appliance is powered by two fully redundant 650 watt powersupply modules. A single power supply module can supply enough power tosupport appliance operations. The power supply modules can be hot-swapped,which means that you can replace a single power supply module withoutpowering down the appliance.
Each power supply module contains two fans. Failure of at least one fan causes thepower supply module to overheat and generate messages.
At the rear of the appliance, each power supply module has an LED light thatindicates its operational state.
Auxiliary data storage unitEach Type 9235 appliance comes with one of the following types of auxiliary datastorage:

include two 146 GB disks in a RAID 1 configuration and includes two fans.The disks operate as a single, mirrored volume. The disks cannot be usedas two discrete disks.
Note: Only 70 GB of the 146 GB is made available for auxiliary datastorage.
You need to replace the hard disk drive module if one of the fansbecomesinoperable. A replacement hard disk drive module does not contain thedisks. For a replacement hard disk drive module, you use the existingdisks. If an individual disk becomes inoperable, you can replace that disk.
Compact flashThe compact flash is a Type I storage card that can hold 512 MB of data.
Auxiliary data storage can be used for the following purposes only:
v To store logging data (from log targets or the log action)
v To store XML files or XSLT style sheets
LED diagnostics panel
The rear panel of all Type 9235 appliances include an LED diagnostics panel withsix LED lights. The layout is three LED lights in two rows.

BatteryThe appliance is equipped with a CR2 three-volt lithium battery. The batterycannot power the appliance. The appliance must be connected to active AC powersources for the appliance to process transactions. The battery maintains thefollowing internal components only:

v Static RAM-based memory, which contains various global parameters thatinclude the current date and time for the appliance
Attention: Complete power failure (no AC power to the appliance with a missingor depleted battery) for seven days renders the appliance inoperable by activatingthe intrusion switch. After seven days, you might need to return the appliance toIBM to have the intrusion switch reset.
Leave the appliance connected to active AC power sources. Do not turn off theappliance when the battery needs to be replaced.
Both the firmware and the hardware monitor the battery.
FirmwareThe firmware monitors the age of the battery from its installation date.During a firmware reload, the firmware reads the current timestamp. Ifmore than two years has elapsed, the firmware generates a criticalmessage. The firmware continues to generate this message at 24-hourintervals until you replace the battery. Shortly before you receive your
appliance, the battery time-tracking process is initialized.
HardwareThe hardware monitors the capacity of the battery. The hardware generatescritical messages when the capacity is less than 10%.
Power switchThe power switch is the toggle that either turns on power to the appliance or turnsoff power to the appliance. When the toggle is in the ON position, the power isturned on. When the toggle is in the OFF position, the power is turned off.
Fan modulesThe appliance includes two fan modules. Each fan module holds four individual
fan motors. If one fan motor fails, you must replace the entire fan module tomaintain the required air flow.
The fans should normally operate between the cold chassis speeds and maximumspeeds. The failure threshold is set to a speed that is 20% lower than the coldchassis speed.
Table 5 lists the speeds for the front and rear fans in revolutions per minute (RPM)on the appliance.

Chapter 2. Preparing for installation
This section provides information about the rack, required tools, and theinstallation overview.
Rack requirements
The Type 9235 appliance is a 1U rack-mountable network appliance. You can installthe appliance in a standard 19 in (48.26 cm) rack with a minimum of 28 in. (71.1cm) of depth. When planning the installation, keep the following in mind:
v The rack must provide rear mounting columns. The appliance requires bothfront and rear mounting support.
v There must be at least 30 in. (76.20 cm) of free space behind the rack frame toremove replaceable parts.
v The ambient temperature in the operating environment and within the rackshould not exceed 104 F (40 C).
v Leave at least 2 in. (5.1 cm) above and below the appliance to provide adequateventilation and to assist in appliance maintenance.

When working on or around the system, observe the following precautions:
Electrical voltage and current from power, telephone, and communicationcables are hazardous. To avoid a shock hazard:v Connect power to this unit only with the IBM provided power cord. Do notuse the IBM provided power cord for any other product.
v Do not open or service any power supply assembly.v Do not connect or disconnect any cables or perform installation,maintenance, or reconfiguration of this product during an electrical storm.
v The product might be equipped with multiple power cords. To remove allhazardous voltages, disconnect all power cords.

v Connect any equipment that will be attached to this product to properlywired outlets.
v When possible, use one hand only to connect or disconnect signal cables.v Never turn on any equipment when there is evidence of fire, water, or
structural damage.v Disconnect the attached power cords, telecommunications systems,networks, and modems before you open the device covers, unlessinstructed otherwise in the installation and configuration procedures.
v Connect and disconnect cables as described in the following procedureswhen installing, moving, or opening covers on this product or attacheddevices.

Observe the following precautions when working on or around your IT racksystem:v Heavy equipment personal injury or equipment damage might result ifmishandled.
v Always lower the leveling pads on the rack cabinet.v Always install stabilizer brackets on the rack cabinet.v To avoid hazardous conditions due to uneven mechanical loading, alwaysinstall the heaviest devices in the bottom of the rack cabinet. Always installservers and optional devices starting from the bottom of the rack cabinet.
v Rack-mounted devices are not to be used as shelves or work spaces. Do notplace objects on top of rack-mounted devices.
v Each rack cabinet might have more than one power cord. Be sure todisconnect all power cords in the rack cabinet when directed to disconnectpower during servicing.
v Connect all devices installed in a rack cabinet to power devices installed inthe same rack cabinet. Do not plug a power cord from a device installed inone rack cabinet into a power device installed in a different rack cabinet.
v An electrical outlet that is not correctly wired could place hazardousvoltage on the metal parts of the system or the devices that attach to thesystem. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the outlet iscorrectly wired and grounded to prevent an electrical shock.

CAUTION:v Do not install a unit in a rack where the internal rack ambient temperatureswill exceed the manufacturers recommended ambient temperature for all yourrack-mounted devices.
v Do not install a unit in a rack where the air flow is compromised. Ensure thatair flow is not blocked or reduced on any side, front, or back of a unit usedfor air flow through the unit.
v Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to thesupply circuit so that overloading of the circuits does not compromise thesupply wiring or overcurrent protection. To provide the correct powerconnection to a rack, refer to the rating labels located on the equipment in therack to determine the total power requirement of the supply circuit.
v (For sliding drawers) Do not pull out or install any drawer or feature if the rack
stabilizer brackets are not attached to the rack. Do not pull out more than onedrawer at a time. The rack might become unstable if you pull out more thanone drawer at a time.
v (For fixed drawers) This drawer is a fixed drawer and must not be moved forservicing unless specified by the manufacturer. Attempting to move thedrawer partially or completely out of the rack might cause the rack to becomeunstable or cause the drawer to fall out of the rack.

CAUTION:Removing components from the upper positions in the rack cabinet improvesrack stability during relocation. Follow these general guidelines whenever yourelocate a populated rack cabinet within a room or building:v Reduce the weight of the rack cabinet by removing equipment starting at thetop of the rack cabinet. When possible, restore the rack cabinet to theconfiguration of the rack cabinet as you received it. If this configuration is not
known, you must observe the following precautions: Remove all devices in the 32U position and above. Ensure that the heaviest devices are installed in the bottom of the rackcabinet.
Ensure that there are no empty U-levels between devices installed in therack cabinet below the 32U level.
v If the rack cabinet you are relocating is part of a suite of rack cabinets, detachthe rack cabinet from the suite.
v Inspect the route that you plan to take to eliminate potential hazards.v Verify that the route that you choose can support the weight of the loadedrack cabinet. Refer to the documentation that comes with your rack cabinet forthe weight of a loaded rack cabinet.
v Verify that all door openings are at least 760 x 230 mm (30 x 80 in.).v Ensure that all devices, shelves, drawers, doors, and cables are secure.v Ensure that the four leveling pads are raised to their highest position.v Ensure that there is no stabilizer bracket installed on the rack cabinet duringmovement.
v Do not use a ramp inclined at more than 10 degrees.v When the rack cabinet is in the new location, complete the following steps: Lower the four leveling pads. Install stabilizer brackets on the rack cabinet. If you removed any devices from the rack cabinet, repopulate the rackcabinet from the lowest position to the highest position.
v If a long-distance relocation is required, restore the rack cabinet to theconfiguration of the rack cabinet as you received it. Pack the rack cabinet in
the original packaging material, or equivalent. Also lower the leveling pads toraise the casters off of the pallet and bolt the rack cabinet to the pallet.

You will need the following cables to connect the Type 9235 appliance to yournetwork:
v At least one (1), but up to four (4), network cables.
Installation overview
The overall installation process makes the following assumptions:
v You have fully unpacked the appliance and have located the included two (2)power cords and one (1) serial cable.
v You need to install the mounting rails and have the rack-mounting kit.

To fully set up and test the appliance in your network, use the following high-levelprocesses:
1. Install the appliance in a rack:
a. Install the rails in the rack.
b. Secure the appliance in the rack.
c. Connect the appliance to an AC source.

2. Set up the initial firmware configuration:
a. Connect the serial cable to the appliance.
b. Initialize the appliance.
c. Verify the initial firmware configuration from the WebGUI.

Chapter 3. Installing the appliance in a rack
Use the procedures in this section to install the appliance in a rack.
Installing rails in the rack frame
The rails are for a 19 in. (48.26 cm) rack. These rails require two (2) standard rackscrews to secure the rails to the rack frame.
Note: The standard rack screws are not part of the rack-mounting kit.
The rack-mounting kit includes the following parts:
v Two (2) mounting rails with built-in extenders
v Two (2) brackets with a built-in captive screw to secure the appliance to the rack
v Four (4) screws to secure the brackets to the appliance
Best Practice: Use two people to install the rails in the rack frame.
To install the rails, use the following procedure:
1. Position the left and right mounting rails in the rack so that the two (2) leftblue tabs face the two (2) right blue tabs.
v The front of each rail is capped with an angle bracket.
v The rear of each rail has an angle bracket that is recessed approximately 3 in.(7.6 cm).

Securing the appliance in the rack1. From the front of the rack, slide the appliance onto the mounting rails. Do not
slide until it locks into place.
2. If the appliance is locked into place, slide the appliance toward you so that youcan attach the brackets with the captive screws.
3. Attach the right bracket to the chassis:

b. Use a screwdriver to tighten the provided screws into the chassis.
4. Repeat step 3 on page 17 to attach the left bracket to the chassis.
5. Slide the appliance into the rack until it locks into place
6. Hand-tighten the captive screws on the brackets to the rack frame.
Connecting the appliance to an AC power source
Use the provided power cords to connect both power supply modules to an ACpower source. You must connect each power supply modules. Otherwise, theunconnected module is considered tobe in a failed state.
Connecting the appliance to the network
Use Ethernet cables or transceivers (not provided) to connect the DataPowerappliance to its neighboring network devices (link partners), such as switches orload balancers.
Attention: Do not connect to telephone or other telecommunication circuits.

Chapter 4. Setting up the initial firmware configuration
Use the procedures in this section to perform the initial, base firmwareconfiguration. This configuration is the minimal configuration to add a DataPower
appliance to your environment.
Requirements
To perform the initial firmware configuration, there are both hardware andinformation requirements.
Hardware requirementTo perform the initial configuration, you must use a serial connection to performthe initial configuration. The serial connection must be between an ASCII terminalor a PC running terminal emulation software to the serial port on the DataPowerappliance. To make this connection, use the provided DB-9 null-modem cable.
Note: If the terminal or PC is not equipped with a serial port, use a USB-to-serialconverter cable (not provided).
Information requirementsBefore defining the base configuration, you need the following information:
v The IP address for the Ethernet interface for appliance management access (MGMT)
v The IP addresses for Ethernet interfaces for appliance service access (ETH0, ETH1,and ETH2)
v The IP address of the default gateways (routers) that supports the subnets forthe Ethernet interfaces
v
The IP address for the network services (SSH, Telnet, and so forth)
Best Practice: Use the MGMT Ethernet interface on a dedicated subnet for allnetwork- and system-wide management functions. This dedicatedsubnet would handle network traffic for logging to FTP, SNMP, XMLManagement, and Web Management (WebGUI) functions.
Use the remaining three Ethernet interfaces to handle data traffic toand from the various DataPower services.
Consideration for password to admin account
The first time that you boot the DataPower appliance is different from any
subsequentboot. On subsequentboots from a serial connection, you will not beprompted to accept the licensing agreement or to change the password for theadmin account. However, you will be prompted to log in with a local account, and,if that account has an expired password, you will be prompted to change thepassword.

Attention: Do not misplace the new password for the admin account. If youmisplace this password, securitybest practice dictates that you should return theappliance to IBM Support to reset this password.
When you receive the appliance after a password-reset, you must perform aninitial firmware setup. Therefore, none of your configuration data will be on theappliance.
However, if another user account can log in and has the appropriate accesspermission, that user can reset the password for the admin account.

Connecting the serial cable to the appliance
To make the serial connection, use the following procedure:
1. Use the null-modem cable or a USB-to-serial converter cable to connect the
terminal or PC to the SERIAL connector on the appliance.2. Ensure that the terminal or PC is configured for standard 9600 8N1 and no
flow control operation. 8N1 is a notation for a serial configuration inasynchronous mode, where there are eight (8) data bits, no (N) parity bit, andone (1) stop bit.
Initializing the appliance
To initialize the appliance, use the following procedure:
1. If the appliance is not turned on, toggle the power switch to the ON position.The power switch is on the rear of the appliance.
v You should see the green power LED light illuminate on the front of the
appliance and hear the fans start up.v You should hear the fans change speed as the screen displays the following
information.

Wait for a few seconds for the appliance toboot.
2. Enter admin2 at the Login: prompt.
3. Enter admin3 at the Password: prompt. You will be prompted to change thispassword.
4. Read and accept the license agreement.
5. Enter a new password at the Please enter new password: prompt.
6. Enter the new password again at the Please re-enter new password to
confirm: prompt.7. Enter y at the Do you want to run the Installation Wizard? prompt to start
the installation wizard.
8. Follow the prompts to complete the base configuration.
2. admin is the name of a local user account. The owner of this account can perform all tasks on the appliance.
3. admin is the default password for the admin account.

The following procedure makes the following assumptions:
v The IP address for the Ethernet interface is 10.10.13.35
v The specialized HTTP server to support WebGUI access listens on port 9090
To access the WebGUI from any browser, use the following procedure:
1. Open the Webbrowser.
2. Type the following value in the Address field:https://10.10.13.35:9090
If the Web page displays successfully, the base firmware configuration issuccessful.
3. Log in to the appliance with the local admin account and password.
If the DataPower Control Panel displays, authentication of the local adminaccount is successful.

Defining the base configuration manually
The base configuration can be defined from the command line only using eitherthe installation wizard provided during the initial boot sequence or with thestartup command. Both methods invoke the installation wizard.
Use the following procedure only if you entered n at the Do you want to run the
Installation Wizard? prompt:
1. Log in to the command line.
2. Enter configure terminal at the prompt to enter Global configuration mode.
3. Enter startup at the prompt to start the installation wizard.
4. Follow the system prompts.
