TONIGHT’S STARTING PITCHER: 2015 Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher and Midseason and Postseason All-Star Jorge Lopez makes his final regular season start tonight. The 22-year-old from Cayey, PR has a 7-3 record with a 1.68 ERA (75 IP/14 ER) with 24 walks and 76 strikeouts in the 2nd half. He was named the Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Month for June and July and finished August 3-1 with a 1.03 ERA (35.0 IP, 4 ER) with 12 walks, 36 strikeouts and a .188 opponents’ batting average. Lopez was the 70th overall selection by the Brewers in the 2011 draft. SHUCKERS WALK 10 IN AN 11-3 LOSS TO SMOKIES IN SERIES OPENER: • The Smokies handed Biloxi their worst loss at MGM Park on Thursday night, an 8-run margin of defeat and 11 runs scored were both MGM Park highs as well as the 10 walks issued by Biloxi pitching. Tennessee also produced the largest single inning with a 7-run 3rd inning. • The Shuckers did jump out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a 2B Nick Shaw (1x4, 2 RBI) 2-run single to center that scored RF Garrett Cooper (2x3, R) and CF Tyrone Taylor (0x3, R, RBI, BB). • Starter Hobbs Johnson (L, 7-8, 2.2 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 4 ER 6 BB, 2 SO) suffered the loss and has walked 13 over his last 2 starts and 5.1 IP. COOOOOOP OFF TO A BLAZING START: Garrett Cooper set another franchise record Thursday by collecting a hit in 6-straight at-bats and reaching base safely in 7-straight at-bats.
