A New Look for the Courier? In the next few months, the Courier will be going through a few changes. We will be trying some new things, and maybe throwing out some old. Some new ideas are to make c{aggified adds free to Colonial Hills residents, putting in garage gales in the summer, adding a baby.sitter listing for older kids in the Hills who are willing and able to baby-sit, adding a children's section, sharing recipes, ideas etc. We would also like to get more news from Colonial Hills School ( Check out the letter from Mr. Southern, our new principal on page 3). Do you have anything that you would like to see in the Courier? Let us know of your ideas, or what you would like to see, or if you would like to try your hand at some writing. The Courier Committee consists of Sue Meier, 8'8'8'-1054/ Lisa Sahr 433-0378' and Julie Riber 84 7-5723. Call us if you have any ideas.

BOO! 'The Halloween party at
the Shelter house on October 3 l was once again a great success. Having it earlier in the day did little to dampen the spirits of even the littlest ghost. Over 100 children attended the event along with their parents.
The kids enjoyed free hotdogs and treats, and tried their hands at a number of different games and activities like pumpkin painting, bobbing for apples, Oreo stacking and Pinata bashing.
Tue party was followed by another event that is sw·e to become a favorite with Colonial Hills kids. 1he Haunted fores t, put on by the Colonial Hills cub scout pack

In an effort to keep the costs down for the courier, t.he Civic Association is asking for volunteer delivery people.
Taking only about an hour of your time each month, you would agree to deliver the courier to a specified area For example both sides of one particular street.

THE CO LONIAL H I LLS CO URIER
A letter from the new Principal Dear Colonial Hills Community, I am writing this short article in order to tell you a little about myself. I have been in the education business for 23 years. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Capital University in 1976 and started my education career as a music teacher in the Grandview Heights City Schools. I then received my Master's Degree in educational Administration from The Ohio State University in 1983. I was principal at Stevenson Elementary School in Grandview before moving to Worthington in 1989. Since then, I have been the principal at Wilson Hill Elementary School. My wife Sandie is an elementary art teacher in the Hilliard City Schools. We have three children - Nathaniel is a sophomore, Noah is in the 8th grade and Hannah is in the 3rd grade. We live in Marble Cliff and my children attend school in Grandview. Other than working with young children I like to play golf, listen to music, read and renovate old homes.
I am very excited to be the new principal at Colonial Hills School. I have been impressed by the caring and inviting spirit that exists in the school and the community for the children. Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself or give me a call. If you have time to volunteer, we would love to have you spend some time at Colonial Hills. Sincerely, Todd Southern, Principal Colonial Hills Elementary School

Acting treasurer, Mike Sahr reported we did $200 better than we thought at the 4th of July. Two reports showed that if Colonial Hills Civic Association continues the way we have in the past, we will have no money in a few years. Membership drive needs to be more near 70% versus the 50% it has been in the past. Sandy Granl will be the Treasurer. She is also the Leadership Worthington candidate we sponsored. Mike Sahr will chair committee to go through the cabinets in the shelter house and organize it.
N . Committee Reports Membership/Luminary This weekend he will be handing out kits to trustees. 3 others have volunteered to help to let each trustee know how important it is to try to speak with each resident. Our goal is to get 70% of the residents to join.
Resident Survey Committee met and finalized survey. Delivered two weekends ago. Have gotten good response back, but need each trustee to remind residents to tum them in.
Courier Committee met and decided to have Courier out by the 7th of each month. Sue Meier will be taking over the Courier. If any articles are to be in the Courier, have them into Sue by the 2 1' 1of each month. To save money, we will mail them only in December through February.
V. Unfinished Business Leadership Worthington
Group decided we would have a selection process and requirements. Tabled for next meeting.
Luminary Criteria Group decided we would have only two choices. $10 for Family and $5 for Seniors. Luminary will be issued to all residents.
1998-1999 Budget Tabled again for next meeting since we are still waiting for surveys from residents. Only decision was to not have the Holiday Party this year since it was scheduled for December 21, 1998. Group felt this was too close to Christmas and the attendance has been poor the last 3 years.
