Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent anaccidental short circuit. Remove the ashtray and (2)screws exposed. Pop out the hazard switch, disconnectthe wiring and remove (1) screw exposed. Pop out theswitch blank (from the far right position) and remove(1) screw exposed. Unclip the dash trim bezel and dis-connect the wiring. Remove the screws securing thefactory head unit and disconnect the wiring.

Attach Spacer Set #1 to the front of the mounting tabs.(This step may not be necessary from some models).

Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent anaccidental short circuit. Remove the ashtray and (2)screws exposed. Pop out the hazard switch, disconnectthe wiring and remove (1) screw exposed. Pop out theplastic plug (located in the top-left corner of the dashtrim bezel) and remove (1) screw exposed. Unclip thedash trim bezel and disconnect the wiring. Remove thescrews securing the factory head unit and disconnectthe wiring.

Using the scored lines on the back of the mounting tabsas a guide, cut and remove the outer portions of thetabs. Attach Spacer Set #2 to the back of the convert-ed tabs.

Hyundai Elantra 1992 - 95

Disconnect the negative battery terminal to preventan accidental short circuit. Remove (2) screws fromthe bottom of the radio trim bezel. Remove the bezeland disconnect the wiring. Remove (4) screws fromthe factory radio, slide the radio out and disconnectthe wiring.

Locate Radio Housing “C” included in the kit andretain for use in step #3. Locate the (4) factory screwspreviously removed in step #1 and retain for using instep #3.

ALL VEHICLES

2-SHAFT HEAD UNITS: Slide the aftermarket head unit into thekit and secure with shaft nuts. (see Fig. A)DIN HEAD UNITS: Cut and remove the shaft supports from theRadio Housing. Slide the DIN cage into the kit and secure bybending the metal locking tabs down. Slide the aftermarkethead unit into the cage until secure. (see Fig. B)

EXCEL, PRECIS, SCOUPE: Re-connect the battery terminal and test the unitfor proper operation. Mount the head unit/kit assembly to the sub-dash withthose screws previously removed in step #1. (see Fig. A).

ELANTRA: Re-connect the battery terminal and test the unit for proper oper-ation. Mount the head unit/kit assembly to the sub-dash with (4) #1 PhillipsPan-head Screws and (4) Flat Washers supplied.

Locate the factory wiring harness in the dash.Metra recommends using the proper matingadaptor and making connections as shown.(Isolate and individually tape off the ends of anyunused wires to prevent electrical short circuit).
