Horses We will have 10 horses available during the weekend for the various rides, both from Mabuda Guest Farm and Chubeka Trails on Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. They will be allocated on a �rst-come-�rst-serve basis, based on weight carrying ability. Our maximum weight is 90kg, with a limited number of horses carrying above 70kg. All horses are suitable for beginners and experienced riders, with amazing temperaments and athletic ability.

GuidesMabuda Guest Farm guides will lead the trails, with assistance from Chubeka Trails. All guides have experience in guiding horse trails of di�ering abilities and are avid horsemen. Our guests will be in great capable hands!

Rider Experience LevelsBeginners and Experienced riders are welcome! With a number of guides and horses, we will attempt to group riders according to their level of experience, to provide the most memorable ride possible. We request all riders are honest about their experience to enable us to group accordingly. The longer trails are best suited to experienced riders, but if we have a mix of ability, we may split the rides with two guides – availability and bookings depending.

Safety & IndemnityAll guests will be expected to wear helmets (provided), long trousers and closed shoes with a moderate heel please. Indemnities will be signed before each ride.

Please meet at the Green Shed 30 minutes before your ride.

FRIDAY

Imphangele TrailTime: 1 hour @ 3:30pm and 4:30pmCost: E250 per person (adults and children)This trail will take you through some of our indigenous forests and explore tranquil waters. Look out for the African Broadbill which has been recently sighted here! Enjoy the sunset views of the lowveld below.

Imphangele TrailTime: 2 hours @ 3:30pmCost: E450 per personThis trail will take you through some of our indigenous forests and explore tranquil waters. Look out for the African Broadbill which has been recently sighted here! Enjoy the sunset views of the lowveld below. Look out for the Red Duiker along the forested trail. This longer ride will take you along a section of the Mabuda mountain spur on Danny’s Trail (a winding trail through endemic Lubombo Bushveld).

SATURDAY

Lubombo Conservancy TrailTime: 4-5hour ride: @ 6:30am Cost: E900 (includes saddle bag brunch)Join us on an epic adventure down the Mabuda Mountain spur into the Lowveld. This ride is not for the faint hearted! After a gradual descent with some breathtaking views and scenery, we will enjoy long �at canter-stretches around a neighboring cattle ranch. A saddle bag brunch will be provided to keep you going and we will be back in time for lunch and an afternoon snooze! We’ll be kicking o� early to make the most of the cool of the morning. The Green Shed will be open for you to grab a quick snack and wake-me-up co�ee.

Magugu TrailTime: 1 hour rides @ 8am, 9:30am and 11am. Cost: E250Enjoy exploring the valleys and dams nestled in the Lubombos. Catch a glimpse of community agriculture in action across the valley.

Round Up RideTime: 1 hour @ 3:00pm and 4:30pmCost: E250Ever wanted to herd cattle with your trusty steed? This is your chance! Open �elds and landscape views. Experience farm life from the back of a horse.

SUNDAY

Grandpa’s Garden TrailTime: 1 hour rides @ 08:00am and 10:00am Cost: E250This ride will take you through forest trail to discover Grandpa’s Secret Garden and back out again to enjoy some more open scenery and luscious indigenous bush. Look out for the African Jacana and the resident Red Duiker!

The Twin’s TrailTime: 3 hour ride @ 07:30amCost: E650After discovering Grandpa’s Secret Garden, we will ascend the neighboring mountain spur through the Magugu community. Here we will join up with the Twins Trail, around a neighboring farm. Magni�cent views of the Kingdom await you as we crest the Lubombos. Bring your own snacks and small �ask of tea/co�ee to enjoy overlook-ing magni�cent Eswatini. (Keep in mind these will need to �t into the saddle bags)

SUNDAY

Mhlumeni Cave TrailTrail starts at 7amHiking distance: 5kmCost: E80pp includes guidesWe meet at Mhulmeni Bush Camp and set o� down the valley to the impressive caves. The large cave, known as Leopard Cave, used to have a resident leopard until Mr Matsenjwa, who lived in the smaller cave, chased the leopard away as it was hunting the communities goats. The trail then loops back to the Bush Camp.

Social distancing and Covid protocol will be adhered to at all times. Insect repellent, closed shoes and long pants are advisable. Please bring along your own sunscreen, hats and water bottle.

SATURDAY

Mabuda Muti Muti TrailTrail starts at 7amHiking distance: 12kmCost: E200pp includes guides and lunch pack

Anna, Harkeem and Nokwanda will be your guides for the trail. We will meet you at 6.30am at Mabuda Guest Farm in the Green Shed where you will sign the indemnity form and enjoy the Heart Centre vibe before the trail.We will then take a beautiful 5km drive (in your own car) through the farm to the start of the trail. From here we walk along a dirt road to the bottom of the mountain range and join the path up to Muti Muti where we will have our pack lunch before looping back to Mabuda Guest Farm. The trail goes through lowveld indigenous bush, and opens out to beautiful plains with wild�owers and indigenous trees before reaching Muti Muti where you have the most spectacular view of the region.

Please wear comfortable clothes to walk in, long pants are advisable, and suitable shoes. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen, and bring plenty of water!

Regarding our coronavirus precautions we will have hand sanitizer, and wear masks at the registration at the heart centre, and if walking physically distanced beside you. There is plenty of fresh healthy air and space for you to physically distance and feel safe.

We provide a pack lunch, please contact us if you require a vegetarian pack lunch, or have other dietary requirements.

Grandpa’s Secret Garden Trail (5km)@ 3:30pmExplore one of Mabuda’s oldest secrets. Around the mid 1900’s, Carl Todd landscaped a garden hidden beneath the indigenous bush. Run this guided trail with us and discover its beauties in the afternoon light.

SATURDAY

The Twin’s Trail (10km)@ 07:00amA guided, challenging trail run through hill and valley. You’ll face a long, steep climb through the Magugu Community as you summit the neighboring Lubombo mountain spur to join the Twin’s Trail. You’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Kingdom! Be sure to keep enough juice in the tank for the return journey! You’ll need a good level of �tness to enjoy this one!

The Pig Forest Trail (5km)@ 07:30amEnjoy Mabuda’s best. Wind along spectacular single track through indigenous bush. This route has some technical sections that will take you over Rhyolite rock formations. Feel free to run at your own pace.

SUNDAY

Danny’s Trail (+-10km) @ 07:00amDescend the Mabuda mountain spur as the sun peaks over eastward mountain. This trail takes you on a rapid descent to the lowveld followed by a gradual climb back up some awesome single track to Mabuda. Depending on how much gas is left in the tank, we may be able to squeeze in the Imphangele trail as well!

Imphangele Trail (+-5km)@ 07:30amWe’ll descend a bit of the Mabuda mountain spur, as we wind down the �owy Imphangele trail. Lookout for the resident Crested Guinea fowl and Red Duiker!

African Medicinal Walk and Sunset Stroll(+-3,5kms)@ 3:30pm A local expert will take you on an easy walk where you’ll learn about traditional uses of indigenous plants and trees. Starting at his nursery, he will share some history on cycads with you. Enjoy a drink with friends at our favorite sunset spot as the light fades over the lowveld below. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks.

SATURDAY

BIRDING at Grandpa’s Secret Garden(+-2km)@ 07:00am We’ll take you to some of Mabuda’s best birding spots. Be sure to remember your bino’s!Commonly seen: Twinspot, Gorgeous Bush Shrike, Yellow-Rumped Tinkerbird, Chinspot Batis, Black Sparrowhawk, Gymnogene, Grey Sunbird. Rare but seen: Lizard Buzzard, Green-backed Twinspot, Narina Trogon, African Emerald Cuckoo, African Broadbill.

Sunset stroll (+-3kms)@ 4:30pm Join us for a gentle stroll to our favourite sunset spot. Enjoy a drink with friends as the light fades over the lowveld below. If you’re feeling energetic, stroll along a nearby forested trail. (BYOD)

SUNDAY

BIRDING at the Lily Pond@ 07:00am Today we’ll be spending quite a bit of time around wetland and ponds, so expect to see more water birds! See above for possible sightings. Feel free to bring along refresh-ments to enjoy in the tranquil surroundings as you lookout for birds!

WEEKEND

The heart centre for the weekend is Mabuda Guest Farm. We will meet here for all activities except Sunday's hike. Light breakfast and lunches (Free range Mabuda beef burgers) will be on sale. Pre-book your choice of potjie for Friday and Saturday dinner on the Google form. Enjoy a cup of freshly roasted Mabuda Farm Co�ee with your meals! Remember to bring cash to support some local Lubombo artisans!
