    Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay)

    IIT Bombay set up by an Act of Parliament, was established in 1958, at Powai, a northernsuburb of Mumbai. Today the Institute is recognized as one of the centers of academicexcellence in the country. Over the years, the dynamic progress at IIT Bombay in all

    academic and research activities, and a parallel improvement in facilities and infrastructure,has kept the institute on par with the best institutions in the world. About 20 percent of itsgraduates and post-graduates are entrepreneursmany of them first generation.(http://www.iitb.ac.in/)

    Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJM SOM)

    IITBombay established its management school in 1995 to promote interdisciplinary learningand to keep up with the changing environment and with the objective of transformingprofessionals to "Renaissance Leaders" of tomorrow. In the year 2000, the school wasrenamed as Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, in honor of Dr. Shailesh J. Mehta, adistinguished alumnus of IIT Bombay and a generous contributor to the school. SJM SOMalready leads the way in preparing its Graduates to respond to the new challenges bydrawing on the varied intellectual resources of IIT Bombay and providing an outstanding andinnovative program in management education.     ContinuingEducationandQualityImprovementProgramme(CE&QIP):With the rapid pace of growth in technological knowledge and frequent paradigm shifts intechnology, Continuing Education of working professionals in industry is a vital need.

    Continuing Education Programmes are being conducted all over the country and abroad. Inaddition to regular short term programmes, CE&QIP also conducts intensive courses onselected topics leading to a certificate on successful completion and evaluation.

    IX Batch of Executive Program in Management (2012-13)

    IX batch of Executive Program in Management with specialization in Marketing andHRM (EPM MHRM) is proposedto be held through CE&QIP of IIT Bombay, simultaneouslyat Mumbai, Delhi/NCR and Pune during 2012-13. The programme will be coordinated byProf. S.Bhargava and Prof. Dinesh Sharma of Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IITBombay.

    Today this programme is well established and is in demand from the executives, managersand entrepreneurs engaged in different domains viz. government, private and familymanaged businesses.

    Marketing function and managing people in any kind of business are backbone ofsustainable competitive advantage. Successful corporate leaders have realized it and areapplying all possible strategies to hone up the business development skills of people, whocan bring the creative and innovative edge to the business.

    This program has been exclusively designed to meet the emerging needs of executives,managers and entrepreneurs. It includes topics that bridge the existing skills gap andfacilitate easy transition to the required platform for success. EPM-MHRM is an endeavor toprovide an opportunity to get an in-depth orientation and exposure to the foundations ofManagement and addressing specialized aspects of Marketing and HRM.

    This programme seeks to address the following:

    Address the emerging paradigms in the field of Management.

    An emphasis on current concepts and applications.

    Emphasizing on skills such as analytical reasoning, effective communication andteamwork.

    A blend of topics addressing conventional Marketing and People Management with focuson entrepreneurial management.

    ProgrammeDurationThis Executive Program in Management is proposed to be held during July 2012 April

    2013. Classes are proposed to be held on alternate weekend (Saturdays and Sundays).Total number of program days will be 37 days over 19 weekends in a year. Classes will beheld on Saturdays (2pm-8pm) and Sundays (9am to 3pm).

    WhoWillBenefit:Participants This programme is useful to theexecutives, managers and entrepreneurs working in

    private, public,government and non-government/voluntary organizations.

    In the past, this program has also attracted entrepreneurs and managers of familymanaged businesses.

    This programme, emphasises on high quality education to the professionals, who areinterested in enhancing (building/developing) their career and business competencies.

    PedagogyandProgrammeFacultyThe programme pedagogy will involve use of case studies, lecture-cum-discussions, video /film discussions, seminars, role plays, projects etc. Prof. S. Bhargava and Prof. DineshSharma of Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay will be the programmecoordinator. The programme will include faculty from IIT Bombay, leading experts fromindustry and academia.

    ProgrammeFeeTotal fees for the programme will be

    One Lac, eighteen thousand rupees (Rs.1,18,000/-) for Mumbai participants,

    One Lac twenty seven thousand (Rs 1, 27,000/-) for Pune participants and One Lac thirty six thousand (1, 36,000/-) for Delhi/NCR participants.This fee includes the course materials to be given to the participants. Each participant isrequired to pay the total fee by a crossed demand draft drawn in favour of THEREGISTRAR, IIT BOMBAY (CEP ACCOUNT) and payable at Mumbai.

    AwardofCertificateEach participant will be awarded a certificate by CE&QIP, IIT Bombay on successfulcompletion of the programme. For successful completion of the programme, all participantswill have to pass a comprehensive examination at the end of the programme.

    ProfileoftheProgrammeCoordinators Dr. S. Bhargava is Professor at the SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. He teaches OrganizationalBehavior, HRM and Business Entrepreneurship Development and is engaged in research aswell as consulting in same areas.

    Dr Dinesh Sharma comes with diverse experience in marketing as practioner, researcherand teacher. He has worked in Industry before joining research and teaching career. Histeaches marketing strategy, marketing research brand management, sales management. Hehas published several research papers in many peer reviewed international journals andalso has written case studies.

    ImportantInstructions: Please note carefully that only graduates (in any discipline) with 2 years of work

    experience in any organization areeligiblefor this programme.

    Medium of instruction will be English.

    The programme is non-residential.

    Total fee is to be paid in Advance. There is no provision for installment. The tuition feeonce paid would not be refunded under any condition.

    Registration fees paid by a candidate cannot be transferred to another candidate.

    The class schedule will be finalized at the start of the course. However there can besome changes at later stage due to unforeseen circumstances.

    Minimum attendance requirement will be as per rules of IITBombay. CE&QIP.

    No participant will be allowed to appear in final exam without meeting attendancerequirements.

    No certificate will be awarded without satisfactory performance in end examination.

    Conduct of this program is sole discretion of IIT Bombay and can be rescheduled orcancelled due to any unavoidable circumstances. In that case the registration fee will befully refunded.

    For any issues, the Coordinators will be the point of contact.
