10.3.4 EXITS A) MAIN DOORS (LR1 & LR3) – TYPE “A” DOORS

Type “A” Doors can be opened manually and pneumatically in emergency, the 04 doors are equipped with door mounted Slide Rafts.

a) Pre-flight Check

i) Function of door control handle.

ii) Function of Arm/Disarm lever

iii) Availability of safety pin / streamer

iv) Door pneumatic pressure - 1740 PSI (Pressure + Temperature at 21 Degree Decal)

v) Pressure for slide raft Green band

vi) Door locking indicators- Green flag

vii) Function of door warning system

viii) Door barrier strap (located inside door frame) b) Emergency Opening

i) Assess outside conditions.

ii) Check door in armed mode.

iii) Lift door control handle fully up and release.

iv) Door opens PNEUMATICALLY

In the event of a Ditching situation

i) Confirm Slide Raft deploys and inflates.

ii) Command Evacuation.

iii) Board passengers, directly into the slide raft.

iv) Count Number of passengers.

v) Pull accessory Kit into Raft.

vi) Disconnect Slide Raft. (Open Flap and Pull disconnect handle)

vii) Cut re-entry line and Paddle away.

viii) Ensure passengers inflate life jackets before boarding the raft.

Slide Raft Capacity

c) If the door fails to open pneumatically

Push to Open Manually Slide Raft deploys and inflates automatically

d) If the Slide Raft fails to Inflate

Inflate manually by pulling “Red Manual Inflation Handle” on girt extension.

e) If the manual operation of door or device fails

B) EMERGENCY DOOR LR-2 (TYPE “III”)

These doors are only used in land landing a) Pre-flight Check

iv) Lift handle fully up and release

v) Push door out MANUALLY parallel to wing surface.

vi) Ramp Slide deploys and inflates automatically.

vii) Slide ready indicator visible - Green and White.

c) If the Ramp /Slide fails to Inflate Inflate manually by pulling the manual inflation handle at the base of the door.

d) If the door is advertently opened in disarmed mode Pulling “Manual Inflation Handle” at the base of door will inflate ramp slide.

e) Disconnection of Ramp / Slide

i) Disconnect hose assembly from valve assembly ii) Pull up re-entry line iii) Disconnect FWD girt (i.e. walkway and slide from door) iv) Open Flap and Pull disconnect handle. v) Disconnect AFT girt (i.e. ramp rail from door) vi) Open Flap and Pull disconnect handle.

C) COCKPIT SLIDING WINDOWS i) Push control handle downwards and rear-wards, red pin

confirms unlocking ii) Hold lever and slide AFT until

locked. Note: window can be opened only

from inside.

10.3.5 OXYGEN SYSTEM

Cockpit ----gaseous state Cabin ----solid state (have 2/3 mask generator installed

above Pax seats, jump seats and toilets) a) Location of extra Oxygen masks

i) One extra mask on all lateral seats ii) One extra mask on the set of 3 seats in the centre rows iii) One extra mask in Toilet iv) All single Jump Seats have one extra mask. v) No extra mask. vi) Extra masks on all seats In

AP-BGN/OP/Q/R & S Tool Manual Release (TMR)

b) Operation

i) Automatically – once cabin altitude crosses 14000 ft. ii) Manually - from cockpit. iii) Individually - from P.S.U. with T.M.R iv) Pointed end used to open cabin PSU v) Flat end for crew jump seat and toilet units

c) Duration

Duration of Oxygen system is 22 Minutes. Note: O2 flow in all masks in the

PSU’s will start when any mask is pulled, flow can’t be stopped.

10.3.6 EMERGENCY LIGHT

a) Location of Switch

i) In Cockpit: ON / ARM / DISARM position.

ii) At Purser Station: ON/OFF Position

b) Operation i) Automatically: Electric Power Loss. ii) Manually : From Cockpit / Purser Station

i) 12 Minutes for fixed emergency lights 15 Minutes on AP-BGN/O/P/Q/R & S

ii) 10 Minutes for Peepls lights

Note: The cabin switch over rides the cockpit switch. 10.3.7 EVACUATION COMMAND SYSTEM A) LOCATION:

a) COCKPIT i) Captain ii) Captain and Purser iii) Evacuation signal selector ON iv) Evacuation Flashing Light. v) Evacuation Horn Shut OFF

Button. b) PURSER STATION

i) Evacuation Push for ON Button ii) Evacuation Test Button iii) Tone OFF Button.

c) L3 STATION

i) Evacuation Test Button ii) Tone OFF Button.

B) OPERATION

a) Cockpit Activates when the Evacuation Command Switch is pressed to “ON” position.

b) Purser Station c) System can be activated from the cabin when cockpit selector

switch is in “Captain + Purser” Position. Note: In A310 the Evacuation command selector switch is in CAPT position (during flight). Therefore priority to activate the evacuation command remains with the cockpit.

10.3.8 TOILET DOOR EMERGENCY OPENING The toilet doors can be opened from outside in case a person needs help in an emergency.

A) SINGLE FOLDING DOOR

a) Shift “Occupied” sign to “Vacant” b) Rotate handle c) Pull the door outwards

B) SLIDING DOOR

a) Shift “Occupied” sign to “Vacant” b) Rotate handle c) Slide the door

C) BI-FOLDING DOOR

a) Shift occupied sign to vacant. b) Shift two locking devices.

i) Upper device downwards ii) Lower device upwards

c) Pull the door outward. 10.3.9 WATER SHUT OFF SYSTEM

Water supply from pressurised tanks to toilets & galleys can be shut off from:

a) Purser’s station Pressing will shut off water to FWD/MID toilets & galleys Pressing will shut off water to AFT toilets & galleys

b) Galleys: Individually from each wet galley. The shut off valve in Fwd Galley is located behind the waist bin. Mid and Aft galley, it is located beside LHS trolley stowage area. c) Toilet: Individually in each toilet. The shut off valve is located under the sink area.

10.3.10 TOILET FIRE EXTINGUISHERS Toilet fire extinguishers are installed in each of the toilets. The fire extinguisher will automatically discharge in case of fire development, as its nozzles are heat sensitive.

LOCATION a) FWD Toilets: Behind the waste bins b) AFT Toilets: Above the waste bins

OPERATION

Automatic: Once temperature exceeds 71 o C. During the flight in case the fire extinguisher has been discharged

i) Both nozzles will turn to silver from black ii) Temperature indicator placard dots will turn black

from white If the extinguisher has been discharged:

a) Inform cockpit crew, b) Monitor toilet for fire situation c) Make entry in cabin technical log 10.3.11 HEAT DRAIN PANEL

Heat drain panel is located at Pursers panel. When pressed the water service panel is heated. Conditions:

a) Outside temperature less than O0C b) Icing conditions expected. c) Water servicing scheduled.

Operation

a) OFF: During climb b) ON: During descent and

taxiing/ground.

10.3.12 SMOKE DETECTION SYSTEM

Smoke Detector System with built in sensor is installed in all the toilets. a) Master display panel is at the Purser station. b) Red flashing mode light outside each toilet. c) A smoke lavatory indicator at L3 station

PURSER STATION

A) Pre-Flight Check a) Confirm availability of ground power. b) Cabin Attendant to individually press red

light outside the toilet in their area. c) Red light ON: Confirms bulb function and

circuit serviceability. d) Senior Purser can confirm the system

serviceability from his master panel by selecting the respective toilet through selector knob and pressing the smoke lav test P/b.

Senior purser should after checking bring the selector knob to NORM FLT position.

B) Operation In case of smoke development in any of the toilets the following will happen: a) Red light out side the respective toilet will flash. b) Amber light on the respective ACP will flash with continuous

single stroke chime. c) Smoke Lav indicator at Purser station panel will illuminate.

Note: In case of AFT toilets in addition to the above Smoke Lav indication at L3 station will also illuminate.

10.3.13 FLAPS/SLATS & LANDING GEAR INDICATIONS

In case of an abnormality the cabin crew may be required to make a visual check of indications for flaps, slats or landing gear from the cabin. When requested to do so by the Flight Deck crew, the cabin crew will visually check the indications from the following rows:

ii) A fluorescent coating on the wing surface is visible when landing gear is down and locked.
