the Creighton Prep annual Report is a listing of women and men who are committed to

and Jesuit tradition. this report serves as a reminder that Prep is able to fulfill its

mission because of the help of generous alumni, parents and friends.

Dear alumni and Friends of Prep,

as Governing Board Chair at Creighton Prep i firmly believe that the success of an organization is strongly tied to its ability to tell its story as accurately and as comprehensively as possible so that those with a stake in the long term well-being of that organization understand both its record of past performance and the opportunities for future investment.

With this in mind, i am thrilled to present you with the 2011-2012 Creighton Prep annual Report in a new format, separate from an alumni news and updated with information that builds on the general operating snapshots and the views behind the numbers we have provided before.

Please know that all of us on the Governing Board and the leadership team at Prep are deeply inspired by and thankful for your ongoing commitments to the school and we hope this report reflects both the enormity of your generosity and why your investment in Prep is so worthwhile.

it is truly fitting to be introducing this new report format to tell the story of a fiscal year marked by such tremendous change, from the renaming of the annual Fund and the expansion of our enrollment management efforts to the search for a new president that culminated in the recent hiring of mr. michael Giambelluca for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.

as a board, we are excited about the talent, the experience and the reverence for ignatian education that michael will bring to his role at Prep. We also look forward to supporting him in his transition to the president’s office and we are fully confident that our interim president, Fr. andy alexander, s.J. ’66, and the rest of the Prep faculty and staff will do their utmost to welcome michael and Donnamaria to the Prep community and to Omaha.

as you have seen through developments at Prep reported here and in vehicles such as our alumni news, Creighton Prep remains the premier choice for young men in the Omaha area to develop themselves in faith, scholarship, leadership and service. it is also a great investment for our constituents interested in a future filled with the possibilities that the Prep students of today will help create in our society tomorrow.

FINANCIAL AID

the financial aid application process for the 2011-2012 school year began in January 2011. Creighton Prep utilized FaCts Grant & aid assessment to verify financial information for families applying for aid. the Financial aid Committee allocated the aid and notified parents of their grants in late February, 2011 for the following school year.

Financial assistance in 2011-2012 was available in five forms for students attending Creighton Prep:

• Work Grants (must qualify for Financial aid)

• Financial aid Grants

• academic scholarships

• archdiocesan scholarships

• Parish scholarships

Dear alumni, Parents and Friends,

this year was my 50th Prep reunion, where almost half of my Class of 1962 gathered in late may to celebrate as the first class to go all four years at the new 74th & Western avenue campus.

Remembering is very important and we do so every time we celebrate mass and receive Jesus risen as He is today. in my 20 years at Prep as a student, new priest, president and assistant to the president, i have also been privileged to hear your memories of the Jesuits, lay men and women who were your teachers, administrators and staff. and, of course, your friends.

You also remember Prep every day with your gifts to help us keep tuition the second lowest of all the Jesuit high schools in the country and to support our financial aid & student work program. those of you who swept the corridors and classrooms or worked the switchboard or outside on the yard remember. For many, it may have been your first job and your first opportunity to help Prep.

a very important way we need your help going forward is through our st. ignatius Heritage society, gifts through philanthropic planning. Our Heritage society list is impressive; however 25 percent of those listed are from estates we have already received in the past 54 years. so we are actively looking for new members.

Here are some questions for you:

• Did Prep help me receive a good foundation for my faith, academic and work life? Did particular teachers, administrators and staff help me learn and grow?

• Did i get help through financial aid in addition to what everyone received by a lower tuition?

the last question came back to me at my 50th class reunion. Friends for life and new friends i had not known so well made that weekend. and finally:

• Do i want Prep to continue forward for 21st century young men? even if i live far away, do i want to help young men in the land of my childhood?

this will be an area which will be my focus on in the years ahead. i look forward to visiting with you.
