Hi Year One Thursday 2 nd July 2020 What an amazing day yesterday! So many children actually went to Golders Hill Park. What an impressive level of commitment!! Well done if you did the trip virtually too (like me). We hope you enjoyed it. Well done to those of you who have joined our Google Classroom. We are loving seeing all of the work being put on each day. Before the end of the year, we will be using the Google Classroom for something really exciting so make sure you sign up. You could write the words on paper to make your own cards or even read them from the screen as quickly as you can. LITERACY - We are learning to use description to give more information. Hi Year One Thursday 2nd July 2020

What an amazing day yesterday!

READING - We are learning to use our phonics to decode words

After you have read the story today, you have a reading challenge. On the sheet attached there are some word I have typed up. If you print the sheet off and cut the words out, you have flash cards. See how quickly you can read the cards correctly, you could get a grown up to time you and then on your next turn, try and beat your time. You could write the words on paper to make your own cards or even read them from the screen as quickly as you can.

LITERACY - We are learning to use description to give more information.

You need to get a piece of paper and fold it in half – like a birthday card.

Inside the card you need to draw an animal from the story of the Bad Tempered Ladybird.

On the front of the card, you need to give clues about which animal is inside.

I have a green body

I am a reptile.

I have no legs.

I have a forked tongue.

I slither along the ground.

What am I?

MATHS – We are learning to write the time.

Today we are learning about seconds and minutes and hours. There are 60 seconds in one minute (count to 60) There are 60 minutes in one hour. Remember the long hand on the clock is the minute hand and it moves clockwise around the clock. There are 24 hours in one day.

FOUNDATION – ART We are learning about great artists.

Today we are learning about a new style of art that Henri Matisse created. Henri Matisse is one of my favourite artists as he uses shape and colour. You have already created a cut out of a snail as I saw many get photos of your work.Watch Matti and Dada https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s37OoBXkYAc learn about the paper cut outs (parents around about 4.56 is when they talk about the cut outs) This style of art is also called drawing with scissors and playing with colour. Henri Matisse called it a new style of art – cutting into colour.

Today you are going to create your own picture using the cutting into colour style. You can have a go at making an animal you saw yesterday at our virtual trip or some leaves like Henri Matisse. Photograph what you have done and send it in. Have fun cutting!

There is a story about how he became a cut out artist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh09gdPq2M8And here is his art work at the Tatev=lA17BZuCt30
