THE VISITATION COLLABORATIVE

FROM THE PASTOR Remember that when you are away, you can always find the Collaborative bulletin

on our website: Visitationmilton.org

This week I was looking at my calendar and looking at all the dif-ferent things that are on the schedule. I then began to think about all of the families in this parish and my own upbringing. As a middle schooler I remember realizing one day that however many people were living in the house was the number of schedules that we had to balance. All these schedules were coordinated to find time for a family meal, time to go to Mass together, and leisure time to spend with one another. I do not doubt that this is true for all the families in our parishes. God’s plan of family life is such that each member learns to live for the others. It is in living a common life that every member helps the others to discover and to live the purpose of his or her life. Like a family, our collaborative is meant to help us encourage one another in fulfilling our purpose in life. The purpose of every hu-man life is to know and love God. The degree to which we are doing that is a reflection of the strength of our community. In Philippians 2:21, St. Paul draws the attention of the Philippians and notes how “Everyone is busy seeking his own interests rather than those of Christ Jesus.” In our family life and in our parish life, we should be attentive to this danger. The only way to healthy family life is by helping each other to choose the Greatest Good, who is God. A good examination of life should ask, “Am I pursuing my interests or God’s will? “”How am I helping my spouse, my family members, my fellow parishioners, my neighbor to choose God. Thank you to all who attended the finance and facility meeting after Masses at St. Elizabeth last weekend. I was encouraged by your presence there and the questions that you had. One big takea-way I had was to see your care for the parish’s temporal needs. We had another great week of religious education. We can cer-tainly use more adults and post-Confirmation teens o help out with religious education, especially middle school. Please prayer-fully consider helping us to grow the faith in our children. Oktoberfest is coming up. We are hoping to have a great turnout like we did at St. Patrick’s Day. Kids under 12 are free. There will be authentic German food from a local chef, an authentic German band, and raffles. Please invite your family and friends to join us. Have a blessed week. In Christ, Fr. Bennett

COLLABORATIVE MASS INTENTIONS

Flocknote: The new communication tool for the

Visitation Collaborative in Milton

We are a much more mobile society and our Visitation Collaborative is trying to do a better job with staying in touch with our parishioners. We understand that not everyone reads the entire bulletin every week. There are also some things that we communicate in the bulle-tin and at Mass that require timely reminders and fol-low-up. This tool will help us to communicate strategic reminders through text and announcements through email. Additionally, there are special communications to groups within the parish that we would like to send without having to send it to everyone. For these rea-sons and many others, we are excited about utilizing Flocknote to communicate with you.

What do I need to do next? We are asking that all parishioners visit the following site and sign up with St. Elizabeth and St. Mary in Mil-ton. https://VisitationMilton.flocknote.com/everyone

THE VISITATION COLLABORATIVE

The Collaborative is looking for a few more catechists to assist with Faith Formation.

Will could use help with EDGE (grades 6-8) which meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday of the month in Fr. Curley Hall.

Lower grades are pretty much set for regular teachers, but would like to establish a substitute teacher list. Please contact Denise if you can help.

Collaborative Pastoral Plan

A writing team has been formed by Fr. Bennett to re-

flect, discern, discuss and draft a Christocentric local

pastoral plan. Team members will meet eight times

over the course of the year to comprehensively exam-

ine the life of the parishes from varying perspectives

in order to support mission-driven activity and plan-

ning. Our local Pastoral Plan must be submitted to

the Cardinal for his approval by June 30, 2020.

At the third meeting, the team focused on Discern-

ing a Vision for the Collaborative. Discussion fo-

cused on identifying problem areas and possible so-

lutions to reach a desired outcome. From this dis-

cussion, a draft Vision Statement was agreed upon.

This statement will be presented to staff and leader-

ship councils for their input.

A local pastoral plan is a plan written by a unique mix

of clergy, staff, council members, and other commit-

ted parishioners to help foster a culture of evangeliza-

tion and discipleship in one particular collaborative of

parishes. The Archdiocese provides direct support in

the plan writing process. The local pastoral plan pro-

vides a vision to guide all the work of the parish and

make it mission-centered, remembering always the

Great Commission of Jesus, to “go and make disci-

ples of all nations…” Explore the process, resources,

and much more at www.disciplesinmission.com

You will be kept up to date throughout this process

and your input is desired and encouraged. Please feel

free to reach out to Fr. Bennett or any team member.

ness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke

him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince

souls.

RCIA is the preparatory formation for anyone who is interested in becoming Catholic. This includes those adults who are baptized as Christians but have not received their first Holy Communion and Confirma-tion. It also is the preparation for those adults who are not baptized and looking to be baptized.

We will be starting up our classes for RCIA in the coming weeks and we would like to invite anyone who is thinking about becoming Catholic to join us. If you know anyone who is thinking about becoming Catholic, please encourage them to get in contact with us. We would like to help them in discerning this desire. Last year we had two people enter into the Church at the Easter Vigil.

There are already two people who are interested in this preparation. There is no set scheduled day and time yet. It will be determined in part by the availa-bility of those who are interested. Please call the office with your contact information or email Fr. Bennett ([email protected]).
