Prayer of Adoration
Anthem of Adoration Sing Praise to God Marion Vree, arr.Sing praise to God Who reigns above,The God of all creation,The God of power, the God of love,The God of our salvation. With healing balm my soul He fillsAnd every faithless murmur stills. To God all praise and glory.
What God’s almighty power hath madeHis gracious mercy keepeth.By morning glow or evening shade His watchful eye never sleepeth.Within the kingdom of His might,Lo, all is just and all is right. To God all praise and glory.
Thus all the toilsome way along We sing aloud God’s praisesThat men may hear the grateful song The voice unwearied raises.Be joyful in the Lord, my heart. Both soul and body bear the part.To God all praise and glory!Amen.- Johann Jacob Schütz
Confession
Call to Confession
Corporate Prayer of ConfessionGreat is Your faithfulness, O God. Yet we confess that we do not always trust You and Your ways. We are often fearful, anxious people. We trust in our bank accounts, in our technology, in health care, and in our military. We entrust ourselves to professionals and put our hope in politicians… but we do not entrust ourselves to You. Forgive us for this lack of faith.

Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Anthem Let All the World in Every Corner Sing William MathiasO come, let us sing unto the Lord:Let us heartily rejoice in the strength of our salvation.Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving:And show ourselves glad in Him with psalms,For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods.In His hand are all the corners of the earth:And the strength of the hills is His also.
O come, let us worship and fall down:And kneel before the Lord our Maker,For He is the Lord our God,And we are the people of His pastureAnd the sheep of His hand.
Let us sing unto the Lord!Let all the world in every corner sing: my God and King! The heavens are not too high; His praise may thither fly.The earth is not too low; His praises there may grow. The Church with psalms must shout; no door can keep them out,But above all, the heart must bear the longest part.Let all the world in every corner sing: my God and King!- Psalm 95 and George Herbert

Worship Notes
The Processional CrossThe procession into worship is led by a crucifer who carries a cross mounted on a staff. The ancient practice of leading the assembly into worship with a processional cross is a visible reminder that Christ Jesus goes before us in all that we do. He leads us into worship, and he leads us out into the world in which we are called to serve. The cross is the most universal of all signs of Christ and his church. It identifies both the object and the means of our worship and provides the context of all that is to follow in the service. The cross, carried as a standard before the people, reminds us that Jesus is our Sovereign, the Head of the Church, and that our ultimate allegiance is to him. Lifted on a tall staff, the cross reminds us of Christ’s love, which is our catalyst for worship and our cause for celebration. The cross is empty, reminding us that Jesus is alive, and because he is alive, he is truly present with us in worship and always. When the processional cross is placed in its stand near the pulpit, it remains within view during the reading of scripture and the preaching of the sermon, reminding us that the preaching of the Written Word is a means of grace by which we are drawn to the Living Word, Jesus Christ.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.Colossians 1:15-20
