a partnership between and

a combined experience of nearly 200 years

A partnerhip born in the

Port of Rotterdam

For more than 130 years, GEKA has been a reliable partner for getting any job done. We see ourselves as a trustworthy partner, participating in every aspect of a project, from conceptualisation to implementation of maritime constructions. This is a typical form of collaboration between GEKA Bouw and its customers.

JLA Loading Technology is a Dutch Original Equipment Manufacturer and a one stop solution provider for loading equipment. As part of J. de Jonge flowsystems group and with more than 35 years of experience in design, production and maintenance of loading equipment. JLA is proud to be a world-leading provider of loading equipment. The group has in-house piping construction, rotating technology, pressure vessels etc.

THE LOGICAL

NEXT STEP

IN THE OIL & GAS INDUSTRY

The industry is evolving.

Designing and constructing total jetties is traditionally a very time consuming and expensive endeavour.

Choosing the right companies for all phases is essential. Communication and interfacing between the companies can

make or break projects of this magnitute.

That is why JLA Loading Technologies and GEKA Bouw BV have joined forces to create TIJ (total integrated jetties).

One company for the whole jetty construction process. From design to construction, maintenance and replacement.

Seamless interfacing results in less time and less costs for our clients.

TIJ is the one stop shop for total jetties

We offer total integrated jetties. From the initial feasibility study to the engineering, design and construction. Furthermore, we provide inspection, maintenance and replacement.

Feasibility study Basic engineering

Technology and system feasibility Together with the client our in-house (cost) engineers identify any potential issues that would prevent the project from successful completion.

The layout principles This phase of the project focusses on the basis of design, berthing approaches, base loads, general arrangement drawings and other key points.

Total jetty solutions

Your partner in handeling liquids for oil & gas operators. From ship to shore.

Design & build

Detail engineering Construction

Detail calculations The detail engineering and execution drawings are the final phase of the studies. With the use of 3-D hardware and software we can determine whether all stresses and displacements are allowable, so that project can be executed safely.

In house construction Because of the fact that the whole engineering and construction process is done in-house, communication is optimal. TIJ has it’s own construction staff and equipment.

A partnership born in the Port of RotterdamGEKA Bouw BV and JLA Loading Technology are both headquartered in the Port of Rotterdam.

A Dutch aproach Rotterdam is one of the main ports of Europe. The port is the gateway to the European oil & gas market. The port is one of the most important junctions of the world. The annual throughput of liquid bulkis 430 million tons annually.

Design principles

Efficiency Safety Quality

– Optimized berthing time (arrival/departure) is set with customer operations to avoid long berthing time– [OPtimal] logistics for operators (shore to ship and vice versa). Walking, horizontal and vertical transport ways with integrated key components– Optimal working areas (avoiding mishandlings)– Effective ship/shore mooringsystems at berths to have minimum lost time during manouvring

– Weather conditions: wave heights, wind exposure and direction are taken well in consideration.– Procedures and routes: Shore crew and nautical crew are safe in case of an emergency escape.– HAZOP study prepared together with client– Operators environment: based on daily working conditions– No obstacles to give hurdles: walking routes etc. designed for safe routes

– Low cost of ownership, designed for easy maintenance accessibility– First class materials to restand the sea climates– According national and international design codes– Demurrage prevention– Environmental protection (water and air)

Benefits of our services

Seamless interfacing helps projects finish faster and cost considerably less than traditional methods, based on long term trust.

Traditional

TIJ method

A company for each phase– Engineering, procurement and construction is done by different companies for different phases, resulting in a traditional graph shown here.

Seamless interfacing – Engineering, procurement and construction is done by TIJ.– Fit for purpose– An average of 30% faster – An average of 20% less costs– The TIJ method needs no tendering

One partner

A company for each phase– Conventionally, each phase of a project was performed by a different company. This results in excessive work, time and eventually costs.

– With TIJ, all phases are executed by the same company, which results in short lead time and less costs.

Berthing Approach System

Nautic simulation

Increase the safety of jetty and ship’s the Berthing Approach System sets of signal, warning and alarm indicating (the ship’s speed, distance and angle during the berthing process.) Based on exceeding the preset max. drift off a predefined action can be undertaken

To check ship manoeuvres around jetties we provide nautic simulations during design phase. With 3-D design models of the jetty and real models of ships real live ship manoeuvres can be visualized. Captains can sail with existing ships in the 3D model

Key features

Service & Maintenance

Debottlenecking

From service level agreements to upgrades of your jetties, our service engineers are standing by 24/7.We have the largest service engineer fleet in the world.

Bottlenecks can occur during the process from and to jetties. Increasing throughput. This leads to new approaches of transfer of liquid/gas bulk handling with modificated equipment.Analyzing demurrage issues can lead to debottlenecking.

3-D Engineering

In-house 3-D hardware (Faro 3D) and software (Autodesk Suite), as well as skilled and experienced engineers. From feasibility study to detail engineering.

Possible Partnerships

Design & Construction TeamIdeal for risk spreadingIn a “Construction Team” TIJ works closely with the client during the engineering phase. After this phase the basic design is completed. Based on this BOD (bases of design) TIJ estimates the contract price and makes a proposal to the client. The client and TIJ can sign a lumpsum contract. For the first phase an exclusivity agreement is signed between owner and TIJ. During this exclusivity agreement the project can be stopped at any time. TIJ recovers costs made up to that moment. This means the client is always in charge.

Benefits for the client– Involvement during engineering phase with the advantage to share risks and value to eliminate surprises during execution

– Minimum risks

– Flexible contract that can be ended at all time

– No upfront costs for a contractor

– Ability to influence the project

Compared to Design & Build by TIJ– Longer lead time

– A bit more expensive

– Higher responsibility for the client

Design & Build by TIJIdeal for reducing costs and timeThe TIJ method was created specifically to reduce the amount of time needed to complete a project. Because of the fact that all phases of the project are managed by TIJ, procurement can be done during detail engineering. Furthermore, no tendering is involved during the project, resulting in less time and less costs.

construction

Benefits for the client– Interfaces between top site (loading arms, hose towers etc.) and jetty are fully managed

– No extra costs for contracting a separate (third party) design company

– Shortening (up to 30%) of the schedule time for the complete project (during detail engineering the procurement of materials can already take place)

– Getting an optimized design ( the designs by TIJ are aligned for in-house equipment and stock materials and also beneficial for the logistics)

Our client list includes, but is not restricted to the following companies. We are proud to have worked with these industry leaders.
