The Central Institute of Tool Design is a premier Institute in Asia providing specialized training courses in Tool Design, Manufacture, CAD/CAM and Automation techniques. The Government of India established the Institute in the year 1968 with the assistance of UNDP and ILO as an executing agency.
The Institute has well equipped Tool Room with sophisticated machines such as CNC 5-axis & 4-axis machining centers, CNC Lathe machines, CNC EDM Machines, CNC wirecut etc., supported by Metrology equipment like CNC 3D Co-ordinate Measuring Machine. The Institute is also equipped with Calibration Centre for calibration of Instruments, Slip gauges.
The Institute has also established an Automation Centre which is equipped with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electronics, Electro pneumatics with PID controls, Electro Hydraulics with PID controls, Sensor Technology, PLC and SCADA systems trainers and Modular production systems of FESTO, Germany.
The Institute is also equipped with VLSI & Embedded Systems Laboratory, Library and a Documentation Centre. The Institute has a CAD/CAM centre with latest Hi-end Compaq, IBM, DELL work stations and software packages like AutoCAD, I-DEAS, Pro/E, CATIA, Solidworks, ANSYS, ADINA, Hypermesh, Nastran, DelCAM, MasterCAM, Unigraphics, etc., for imparting training and offering consultancy services. The Institute undertakes design and manufacturing of tooling, machining of precision components using 5-axis machine, consultancy jobs in the area of Tool Design and Manufacturing, CNC machining, CAD/CAM, Automation and Calibration services apart from the training activities. The Institute offers courses at M.E / M.Tech (CAD/CAM and Tool Design) in collaboration with Osmania University and Post Graduate, Post Diploma courses in Tool Design, CAD/CAM, Tool Making and Automation. ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: The word “Metrology” stands for the science of Measurements. The knowledge about anything is complete only when it is measurable and be
expressed in numbers. The core of metrology lies in the validation of the results, particularly by specifying its actual limitations. Inspection is concerned with the checking of a product at various stages in its manufacture right from the raw material form to the finished products and even in assembled form in the form of machine. Today the measurement science has developed to electronically operated and control equipment, computer aided system for on-line monitor laser equipment etc. Keeping in view of the importance of science and art of precision measurements, testing and evaluation, the Institute conducts a two day programme on “Metrology & Measurement Assurance” for the benefit of Micro, Small & Medium enterprises.
