Assignment 3Crash Course on Creativity
Stanford UniversityNovember 2012
Team 5400 Miles Apart
What value can one loaf of bread bring to the Crivello family and their friends?
My origins are humble but I’m from
noble and ancient descent. My ancestors sat at King’s tables and a Jewish old relative was God’s body.
Everywhere you go, you’ll find some of my relatives in many different breeds and families, shapes and sizes, colors and textures, sweet and sour…
I’m the most ancient and international human heritage.
I’m Brad, the Loaf of Bread
From different countries
We all have one mission: Feed People!
British Bread and Butter Pudding
Restaurants were invented to serve us in many ways
and combinations and we created lots of jobs and business
And People worked hard to get us
Some work in growing us: farmers
Some bring the ingredients together: truck drivers, boats
Some work in preparing us: bakers, cooks
Some work in making us available: supermarkets
And People worked hard to get us
Welcome to Brad’s routine.
A normal day in a loaf of bread’s life and the great value he adds to the Crivello family and friends.
Brad found himself pulled out of the freezer and
placed on the kitchen counter. Brad had come home from the supermarket to his new family several days ago.
6am
Able to be saved to be eaten for several days
The mother of the house uses 4 slices to make a
sandwich for school lunches for Daniella and Roberto
6.15am
Providing nutrition to growing minds – one of them could be a future
artist, scientist, politician or creative thinker!
2 slices are packed and taken to the local playground
where there is a pond. The mother and baby Maria use the bread to feed the ducks.
10.30
Fun and bonding with animals.
Daniella’s art class visits a local art gallery where
there is a toast mural. Back at school they make their own mural using spare bread that Daniella has. Years later Daniella, now a famous artist, credits this visit to igniting her love of art when she becomes a famous artist.
11am
Creating Art and success and passion
Daniella’s mother makes a bread and butter pudding
using 6 slices of Brad for a friend who’s going through some hard times. She drops it off and gives her friend a much needed hug.
1pm
Sweet comfort, support, and companionship.
The word companion – compañero –compagnon comes from the Latin “cum panis” with bread - sharing bread.
Daniella and Roberto make a necklace from bread for
their mother, to give her on mothers day, using 2 slices of bread made into bread crumbs and mixed with glycerine and glue.
4pm
A way to show love and appreciation for your
mother – creating a special memory
.
Daniella and Roberto’s bed time story is Hansel and
Gretel. They get up early the next day before school, and play for hours using 2 crumbled slices of bread as bread crumbs to find their way back from the wicked witches house.
7pm
Providing entertainment, a way home and bonding for
a brother and a sister.
The mother uses the final 3 slices of the now stale
load to make bread crumbs to cover the top of the lasagne she has made for a celebration dinner with her extended family.
3 days later
Even after 3 days Brad continues to add value to the family by nourishing them and adding the finishing touches to a dish that is all about celebrating family and friends.
Remember the game where you got a BIC pen, took
out the ink tube and used the pen as a blow gun. You then filled it up with bread crumb balls and the fun begun ? Lisa from New Zealand had never heard of this but Elena grew up in France and Patricio in Chile and both thought this game was awesome when they were kids – and of course it got you into lots of trouble FOR PLAYING WITH YOUR FOOD!
