Dear colleagues,

Most internists and gastroenterologists are regularly consulted

by patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms in whom imaging

(in particular upper gi endoscopy) does not reveal a cause. The

additional work-up of these patients requires function tests, such

as manometry and reflux monitoring.

Recent developments in the measurement techniques (such as the

advent of high-resolution manometry and impedance monitoring)

have increased our diagnostic abilities. At the same time, however,

these new techniques have made it necessary to acquire additional

skills in the interpretation of the measurements.

During a one-day course, to be held in the  amc in Amsterdam,

participants will see a series of patients with upper gi symptoms,

with their motility tests and interpretation, relayed via an audio-

visual link to the motility lab.

The live video demonstrations will be performed by local faculty,

and discussed with the audience in the lecture hall. We are very

pleased that Daniel Sifrim from London, uk, and John Pandolfino

from Chicago, usa, will join us for this exciting event.

We hope to welcome you on April 27!

 André Smout Arjan Bredenoord

friday 27 april 2012

Moderators:

André Smout, Arjan Bredenoord (Amsterdam)

Daniel Sifrim (London, uk )

 John Pandolfino (Chicago, usa )

Live interactive video demonstrations of:

– Oesophageal manometry: conventional manometry & high-resolution manometry ( hrm )

– Stationary oesophageal impedance measurement (transit)

– 24-h oesophageal pH-impedance/pressure monitoring

– Antroduodenojejunal manometry

In patients with:

– non-obstructive dysphagia

– non-cardiac chest pain

– reflux symptoms

– belching, aerophagia, rumination

– (suspected) intestinal pseudo-obstruction

The Day will be particularly useful for physicians (and other health care

professionals) who are actively involved with or exposed to upper gi motility

studies, independent of their experience level.

09.00 – 17.00 (desk open from 08.15 hrs)
