December 9, 2015 Press Release A delegation from The State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN) of Malang, Indonesia visits Jamia Millia Islamia A delegation from The State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN) of Malang, Indonesia visited Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) to discuss academic cooperation with the university in various fields of learning. This delegation comprised of Dr. M. Zainuddin, Vice-Rector for Academic and Cooperation and various Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments. Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Deans and Heads had a long discussion with the delegation about several academic programmes and on-going research projects in Jamia Millia Islamia. The delegation evinced keen interest to visit university departments and centres to have interaction with teachers and students. The delegation split into several groups and visited Faculty of Humanities & Languages, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women Studies, West Asian Studies and AJK- Mass Communication Research Centre where Deans, Heads, Directors and Faculty Members had detailed interaction with them to identify areas of common academic interests. The State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim likely to approach Jamia Millia Islamia for signing of MoU for academic cooperation. Earlier, Prof. Talat Ahmad interacting with delegates welcomed them and conveyed Jamia’s keenness for academic cooperation with the university in all major domains of knowledge. He talked about Jamia’s keenness for internationalization of education to take teaching and research to the next level. Prof. Shahid Ashraf, Registrar, JMI along with several Deans, Heads and Directors attended the interactive session with the visiting delegation. Enthused by the efforts of the Outreach Programme, JMI in respect of All-Women Canteen “Dastarkhwan” on Jamia campus managed exclusively by women workforce, the visiting delegation had lunch at “Dastarkhwan” in the company of students and teachers.
