NARRATIVE• A Few Good Men follows a

very simple Single Timeline narrative.

• Unlike The Social Network, A Few Good Men follows a chronological order of events:

1.The crime being committed 2. The construction of the court case 3. The case being debated in court.

REPRESENTATION• The U.S marines are portrayed as

tough and honourable soldiers.

• However, the corruption within the ranks suggests that the U.S Marines core isn’t as black and white as society would presume.

• One of the only female characters in the entire film is Lt. Cdr. JoAnne Galloway. She is a military lawyer and is situated in a position of power, although relative to the other main characters, the position is not very high.

The opening scene depicts a Marine Close Order drill. This drill is the first thing the audience see; a exceptionally well preformed drill.

Thus implying the skill and discipline distilled within the men.

CINEMATOGRAPHY• During the court room scene,

there is a recognisable increase in close ups. As the scene gets more intense, the frequency of close ups follows suit. This is especially prominent with shots focusing on Col. Jessup. A good example of this is during Col. Jessup’s speech ‘attacking’ Lft. Kaffee.

• During the scene, their is a strong power shift between the Col. and Kaffee, the time when the shift occurs is indicated by the use of high and low camera angle. Towards the end of the scene all the shots of Kaffee are low angled shots, while all the shots of Col. Jessup are high angled shots.
