Life at the Chamber continues as usual and sees us servicing the trade inquiries that we regularly receive from Italy and from within Australia. We are also very busy organising future networking functions, including the Aperitivo Italiano that the Chamber is hosting at The Royal Hotel, a catering establishment that boasts some of the most genuine Italian cuisine, décor and atmosphere in Brisbane. The Royal Hotel is a valued corporate member of ICCI (Qld) and many of our members have visited and enjoyed the fine Italian experience within the hotel. They rave about what they have experience and so the board of ICCI (Qld) decided to invite all members and friends of ICCI (Qld) to savour what The Royal has to offer. Please do consider your attendance at what I am sure will be a very interesting business and social networking event. We have also been very fortunate to secure the attendance of The Hon Steven Ciobo MP, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, as a special guest at our business networking lunch on Monday 13th November. We are currently finalising the venue at which this lunch will be hosted, so stay tuned for further details. Can I also extend a warm welcome to our new interns, Veronica Testori and Giulia Ciancio who we profile in this newsletter. All of us at ICCI (Qld) look forward to working with Veronica and Giulia and our other intern, Fabiola Contrini and wish them well as the pursue their great Australian working experience at ICCI (Qld). I hope that you enjoy reading this newsletter and look forward to welcoming many members and friends of ICCI (Qld) at our future networking functions. Dear Members and Friends of ICCI (Qld),

Welcome to another interesting and informative edition of the ICCI (Qld) newsletter.

With best wishes to all,

Commendatore the Hon Santo Santoro

President ICCI (Qld)

The Royal’s major renovations in 2014 marked a significant milestone in Nundah Village offering a

brand-new experience to its guests. It’s not just the amazing Italian food that has locals talking, but

the entire venues Italian ‘flare'. With a collaborative team of Italian team members sharing their

experiences and culture with the guests to the chefs cooking in the kitchen just like Nonna. Peroni is

flowing on tap and the cream from our fresh Cannoli’s can be smelt throughout the Village! Our

mission is to provide an authentic Italian experience - offering delicious food and a fun community

environment for family and friends. These strong Italian values earned the Hotel’s acknowledgement

of the ICCI (Qld) sponsored ‘Ospitalità Italiana’ award, a recognition that the hotel feels privileged to

receive. So, next time you’re in the area, come down and see why the Royal Hotel is a “Great Pub,

Locals Love”.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ROYAL HOTEL

The Royal is left in high Spirits after ‘Spirit Hotels Awards 2017’

The Royal has been a significant landmark in Nundah for over a century, remaining a popular fixture by the community as the ‘go-to’ place for everything from functions, to having a relaxing cold beer. However, the Hotels reputation has not been the result of the décor and products alone. It’s the cumulative efforts of the outstanding team who make it a “Great Pub, Locals Love”. As part of the Spirit Hotels, The Royal was shortlisted for several awards at “The Spirit Hotel Awards 2017” which recognises the excellence of its staff across 89 venues nationwide. The event was held at Fitzy’s Loganholme with special guest Olympic Gold Medallist Steven Bradbury delivering inspirational words of wisdom. With such a dedicated and hardworking team, it came as a great honour for our team to receive the below rewards:

• Anna Paris, Function Manager – “Best Customer Service Team Member”

• Cesar Brenot, Restaurant Manager – “Judge’s Choice Award”

• The Lounge Bar – “Best Bar”

Anna stepped up to the role of Functions Manager after her experience and various roles at the venue saw her more than ready for the position. Anna has worked as a barista, waitress, bar tender, duty manager and now functions manager – what a woman!

If you live in Nundah, then you already know who Cesar is. Cesar has been working at The Royal since its major renovation in 2014. His charming French accent and his efforts to always make customers happy always leaves a lasting impression. His hospital reputation is a continuation from his awards of Best Customer Service Team Members AND Best Food Services Team Member at the last “Spirit Hotel Awards”.

Hotel Manager Simon Rayner was ecstatic to see his team receive awards for their tireless efforts and hard work.

Congratulations to Anna, Cesar and to Simon!
