S y n o p s i sIt is six months after Hurricane Katrina devastated thecity of New Orleans. People have lost their families, homes, and work. And now, at St. Augustine Church, the axe has just fallen : the archdiocese is about toclose the parish and send Father LeDoux away. Why isthis happening ? Haven’t the city’s inhabitants alreadylost enough ? Do they risk losing their faith as well ?
St. Augustine Church is an important symbol. Here, forthe first time, slaves, free black people and whites satside by side, praying to God. Many say this is wherejazz was born.
The parishioners join forces with local musicians toresist. Their spiritual guide, Father LeDoux, encour-ages them to negotiate and pray. But God sometimesworks in mysterious ways. People soon realize theymust take matters into their own hands - the time hascome to go on the offensive.
