Planning & Storage

• When planning your warehouse you need to consider a lot of things, including efficiency and health and safety.• Make the most of your space, build upwards rather than

outwards.• Make sure there is enough space for employees to move

around, take into consideration any machinery that will be used.• Make sure to use industry-standard containers to reduce

damage to any good being handled.

Space costs money• Get the most of every square foot

of your warehouse, use the full height of your warehouse• Choose your handling equipment

wisely, try and choose equipment that will be able to fit down the narrowest aisles (without breaching health and safety rules of course!)• Choose a storage system with

stock rotation and good selectivity

Health & Safety• Anyone that has worked in a warehouse

is probably fully aware that injuries are not uncommon.• As a manager, you must make sure these

rules are followed and eliminate hazards where possible.• When it comes to health and safety, you

shouldn’t cut corners. Make sure industry standard equipment is used and up-to-date policies are in place.
