A. HISTORY OF THE FIRM AlliedCook Construction was founded as a General Contractor in 1958 and transitioned from general contracting to Construction Management At-Risk (CM) and Design/Build more than 35 years ago. Today, we are fully committed to these project delivery methods. Our experience has proven the CM process aligns the goals and objectives of the project with the incentives and objectives of the project team. Through this alignment, the project and our clients benefit from improved planning, budgeting, decision making, execution, and quality.
Over the history of our company, we have maintained critical aspects of our general contracting roots. We maintain a crew of skilled tradespeople so we have the ability to self-perform certain aspects of the work when it benefits the needs of our projects.
While AlliedCook’s capabilities have grown over 55 years in order to manage large, complex projects, we have remained a flat organization with a lean overhead structure. This provides for close management of our company and allows our clients, design professionals and employees direct access to the owners of AlliedCook. This flat structure and close management have allowed AlliedCook to manage through the current economic climate with our financial stability and core values intact.
B. STRENGTHS OF THE FIRM/CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PROJECT TEAM

D. APPROACH TO MANAGING CONSTRUCTION
Based on project information available at this time AlliedCook Construction’s suggested construction management approach for the additions and alterations to the Thomas Memorial Librarywouldbe:
• Explorealloptionstodelivertheprojectinacost-efficientandtimelymanner.• EstablishasafeandsecureprojectsitetoprotectPondCoveElementarySchoolstudents, staff, and the general public during construction.• EnsurethestructuralandhistoricintegrityoftheSpurwinkSchoolandPondCoveSchool Annex are preserved.• Constructthenewadditionwhilerenovatingtheexistingstructuretoreduceprojectduration.• ConstructthenewparkinglotattheearliestopportunityintheSpringof2015.
List of Projects Where In-Kind Donations Were UsedAlliedCook will identify potential in-kind services that you may want to pursue with donors. AlliedCook is a fairly flat and lean organization which works well with our non-profit clients as our project team members are involved in every aspect of the project from beginning to end. We believe this promotes team unity and typically includes our subcontractor teams’ “buy-in” to do what is in the best interests of the project.
The following are projects where in-kind donations were used:
Sweetser
Center For Grieving Children
Cancer Community Center
E. CURRENT BONDING CAPACITYAlliedCook maintains a bonding program with single project capability up to $35 million with an aggregateof$50million.Whenrequiredwecanquicklyandeasilyprovidebondingforanyofour projects.
Bonding Agency:Berkley Regional Insurance Company Name/Address of Agent:BobShawSkillings-ShawAssociatesP.O.Box481Lewiston,Maine04243207.753.7300
As a general rule, AlliedCook Construction does not require subcontractor bonding on our projects. However, inparticularcases, wherethereisconcernaboutasubcontractor’sfinancialviabilityorability to meet schedule demands, we will require bonding.

3. Work Performed with Own Forces
AlliedCook Construction anticipates issuing subcontracts for all trade packages on this project to avoid a potential conflict of interest during the bidding process. However, AlliedCook doesmaintain carpentry crews that can be considered for some aspects of the work. Typically, our self-perform work is in support activities on the project site including:
• OSHA/safetyrequirements• Progresscleanup• Temporary heat and protection• Blocking/miscellaneous carpentry• Caulking/fire sealing• Material handling/lift operation
• MiscellaneousDivision10installations
AlliedCook crews can be utilized to quickly accomplish minor changes in the field as well. Our crews and resources can supplement subcontractor work forces if required, to maintain critical schedule demands. The self-perform AlliedCook team members have proven to be very valuable to Owners on similar projects acting to complete quick turnaround and incidental items that may arise.
Ensuring the Project is Competitively BidAlliedCook will ensure the project is competitively bid by building subcontractor interest in the project. This will be accomplished by advertising the project in local newspapers (Cape Courier andPortlandPressHerald)andbymakingdirectcallsofinteresttosubcontractorstoensureatleast three bids for each trade discipline. In an effort to achieve the best subcontractor coverage and pricing, AlliedCook will hold site visits and job walks with specific trades to answer any questions or concerns and to confirm project scopes, timing and quality expectations. We will confirmcoverageinkeyareassuchasmechanical, electricalandplumbing(MEP),demolition, restoration, roofing, siding, carpentry, windows, paint, doors and hardware, masonry and site work. All subcontractors will be asked to submit company qualifications and resumes of lead supervisors/foremen to be assigned to the project.
