Success is Failure Turned Inside Out
Testimonial
“Since beginning Youth Stat at our school during school year 2014-2015,
the partnership has had a very positive effect on the New Light Community.
Our attendance, grades and graduation rates have increased. Students are in-volved with more internships and em-
ployment. Our Community partnerships have increased, the culture of the school
is moving in a positive direction, par-ents, students and staff feel hopeful
about what we're trying to accomplish at New Light.
The New Light partnership with Youth Stat has been an overall positive experi-
ence. We are looking forward to our continued relationship with Youth Stat.”

What is Youth Stat?
Youth Stat is a school-based intervention pro-
gram that seeks to reduce justice involvement
and improve health and wellness outcomes of
students from elementary to post-secondary
education. This initiative is a collaboration
that includes the City of New Haven Youth
Department, Board of Education, city social
services agencies, mental health profession-
als, community partners, and parents. Using a
data-driven intervention model, the goal is to
improve school engagement and academic
performance among program-involved youth.
Youth Stat identifies youth and connects them
to a network of services that are specifically
targeted to their individual needs which is in-
clusive of but not limited to:
