Elev�th ye�After an epic 10th anniversary World of Swing proudly presents the next interna-tional Rock That Swing Festival in Munich. The festival celebrates the diversity of
the dances and music of the Swing and Rock’n’Roll era from the 20s to the 50s. Over a span of five days, the fantastic dance nights, hot live music, shows, competitions, numerous workshops, and passionate dancers from all over the world create an in-
spiring and unforgettable atmosphere. During the daytime more than 50 of the world’s best teachers offer a vast variety of more than 200 classes. Dancers at any level,
from beginners all the way up to teachers, can create their own individual schedule selecting from classes in Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Charleston, Balboa, Shag,
Authentic Jazz, Rockabilly Jive, Afro, Blues, and more. The 11th edition will again offer a fantastic line-up of the best bands and teachers in great
locations, including two nights at the marvelous ballroom of the Deutsches Theater in the city center of Munich. Additionally
the organizers and dance icons Marcus & Bärbl will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their
partnership.

Singer, pianist and guitarist Mike Sanchez is one of the most exciting and charismatic Rhythm’n’Blues performers of today. His indelible image as a frenetic front man, pumping powerful Boogie-Woogie from the piano, has won him fans from all over the world.
Their music is an explosive mixture from the repertoires of Blues, Swing, and Rock’n’Roll, but above all from 50s Jive. Their main reference are Louis Jordan, Louis Prima, Sam Butera, Wynonie Harris, Roy Brown but also the Italian Renato Carosone and Fred Buscaglione. Like their role models they combine energetic and highly-gifted musicians with an incredible voice of their charismatic front man.
HOT SUGAR BANDThe Hot Sugar Band is a real swingin’ time machine that captures the real spirit of Jazz. They take the audience right back to the golden age of Jazz
and the 1930s ballrooms of Harlem. With genial arrange-ments they bring back to life classics by Fats Waller, Count Basie, or Fletcher Henderson.
JacksonSLOAN
& The RhythmtonesOne of England's most fervent devotees of 40s and 50s American culture, Jackson fuses Jump Blues, Jive, Swing and Rockin' Roots music into a heady cocktail. Among many original songs "Kickin’ up the Dust" and "Jukebox Swing" became floor fillers all over the world.

Chris Aron has assembled some of Munich’s finest musicians. They have made their name as a supporting band for stars like „Wanda Jackson“, “Mike Sanchez”, and “Linda Gail Lewis”. They can take you back in time with classic 50s songs, but also excite with their own original songs written by Chris Aron.
This 7-piece French-German band consistently extended their repertoire from virtuoso Gipsy sounds in the style of Django Reinhardt to Stomp Blues and classic Big Band numbers. They transport the audience straight back into the atmosphere of a Swing era night club.
SWEET SIMONESThe 8 musicians play a range of Swing, Jazz and Jump Blues from the classics of the swingin’ 30s and 40s to the hot Neo-Swing of nowadays. They combine the pulsing energy of the big ballrooms with cool Las Vegas elegance.

dancer herself, she knows exactly how

Stephan Wuthe (Ger)Since 1989 DJ Wuthe has been a fixture
with his shellac records at dance events.
His extensive knowledge found its way into
his book “Swingtime in Deutschland”.
JayCee (Fra)Jean-Christophe keeps the floor bouncing
selecting music that goes in your ears and feet.
He is also an author of Rhythm’n’Blues
and Swing books, and a gentlemen dancer

“Mani” Stürzer (Ger)Mani always provides an excellent selection
of hot tunes, whether Boogie, Rockabilly,
Rhythm’n’Blues, or Swing. He always draws
people onto the dance floor.
Zazie Métro (Ger)Zazie Métro loves to play whatever the mood
of the dancers is suggesting to her, from Hot
Jazz, Classic Swing, and Rhythm’n’Blues,
to Doo-Wop, Gospel, Boogie, and Soul.
Willy Meier (Ger)This old hand of the Munich Boogie scene
is known both as a dancer and a DJ. His recipe
is music with drive, soul, groove, and beat.
Lala Adueva (Ger)Lala’s passion is social dancing. Therefore
her intention is to make you dance! She favors
clear rhythms and playful melodies, just great
music for dancing all night long.
Siegi Spiel (Ger)Siegi is an integral part of the Munich Boogie
and Lindy scene and a regular at the Rock
That Swing Festival. He has deejayed regularly
since the 80s.
Laura Spencer (USA)Laura's goal is to create that special buzz
that emanates from a room of people that
are totally digging Swing music. From early
Louis Armstrong to James Brown to
everyone's favorite current Swing bands,
she's got what it takes!

JEAN VELOZJean Veloz is an all-time great Swing Dance Legend of the 40s. Her abundance of style and grace that she displayed in “Swing Fever” (1944) and “Groovy Movie” (1945) made her the idol of many Swing dancers today. The resurgence of Swing dancing brought Jean out of retirement and back on the scene.

Munich is easily accessible by plane, train, or car and the city’s public transportation system is excellent. All venues for both Dance Camp and evenings are near the central station and the famous “Stachus”. They are all located within walking distance of each other.

THE ORGANIZERS
2016 marks the 25th year of their successful dance partnership. They are looking forward to celebrating this anniversary with Swing dancers from around the world at Rock That Swing.
With their knowledge, energy, commitment, and lifelong passion for the Swing dances Marcus and Bärbl have contributed enormously to the Swing dance community. Their teaching and performances have been influencing many dancers worldwide. Before the time of DVDs and YouTube their instructional VHS videos were one of the first world-wide sources to learn the various styles of Swing dancing. In all those years they have continuously grown the community and introduced many new international talents through the events they have created.
Since December 2011 they have operated their own dance studio in the city center of Munich—the Vintage Club. Together with their team of internationally respected teachers they offer regular classes, workshops and dance parties.
Do you like the hot music or the cool outfits of the 40s and 50s? Do you think dancing would be great and shouldn’t be stiff? Is your life missing some drive?Here is your opportunity with solo and couple dances like Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, Shag, or Boogie Woogie.
The Vintage Club team will show you the joy of dancing in relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You can come with a partner or alone. In our partnered classes we rotate partners to learn faster, become a better dancer, and to make it easy to get to know each other.
