A Letter to Prospective Parents and Students
Welcome to Ascension Catholic School! Ascension Catholic is a PreK-12th grade Catholic school lo-
cated in Donaldsonville, La. Our school is the oldest Catholic School in the Diocese of Baton Rouge
with deep roots that trace back to the Daughters of Charity who founded our school in 1845.
The faculty, staff, and administration at Ascension Catholic strive to provide a safe and caring envi-
ronment for all students. We are committed to educating the whole child as we offer learning opportu-
nities that go beyond traditional subjects. Ascension Catholic strives to have small class sizes in order
to tailor and meet individual student needs.
In the elementary grades, students are exposed to art, music, physical education, and computer science
courses throughout their years. In high school, students are offered a variety of courses that are col-
lege-preparatory and have the opportunity to earn college credit through our dual enrollment program
with BRCC.
At Ascension Catholic, we also pride ourselves in offering a variety of extra-curricular activities that
include clubs, organizations, and athletics. We offer students an opportunity to develop socially and
physically by participating in sports beginning in the 5th grade. Middle School sports include boys
and girls basketball, cross country, volleyball, softball, baseball, and football. High School sports in-
clude football, volleyball, cross country, track, basketball, baseball, softball, indoor and outdoor track,
golf, powerlifting, and tennis. We have 28 State Championship honors and have many proud bulldog
fans!
Our school is Nationally Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Ascension
Catholic is a member of the National Association of Student Councils, the National Catholic Educa-
tional Association, the National Honor’s Society and the National Beta Club. The school’s accredita-
tion standards and current improvement plans are submitted and reviewed by the Catholic School’s
Office. We are in the process of developing a 3-5 year strategic plan to further enhance our culture,
facilities, teaching, and learning.
If you would like to learn more about Ascension Catholic and the difference it can make in your
child’s life, we would be happy to share the “Good News” about our school. Come be a part of our
