Goals for the ESL Classroom Support the English Learner (EL) in finding comprehensibility in the school setting both socially and academically.

Support the EL in the process of cultural adaptation to the local school environment.

Support the EL in English language acquisition and the connections needed for success in the academic classrooms.

Support regular academic teachers with methods and modifications needed for the EL to be successful in content classrooms and on required assessments.

Support the EL as s/he moves from significant to minimal English support by removing scaffolding as needed for differentiation.
