In 1998, citizen watershed groups from across Tennessee met to address clean water issues and discuss the future of the watershed movement in the state. These watershed representatives agreed that a statewide organization was needed that would provide leadership on critical clean water issues and also offer capacity building and technical assistance for effective watershed associations. PICSWe have been busy. Last week about 100 of our friends from the Boys & Girls Club joined us for dinner at The Foundry. Optimists sharing the meal with our guests included program Chair LISA HUBER, DONNA BUSWELL, ALLEN COLLIER, LAUREN DEVORE, ERIN FAVIER, BOB FREEMAN, BOB GIBSON, NOEL GILBREATH, MELANIE HOGG, ANNIE LALONDE, DON LINSDEY, BRENDA & SAVANNAH STATON, FREDDA VALENTINE TEMPLES (at the keyboard) and HELEN HEWITT.

With their a cappella renditions of 15th and 16th century pieces, the Madrigal Singers of South Doyle High School invited everyone to get in the Spirit of Christmas. Our members and guests also enjoyed a more recent song of the season, a “Tender Tennessee Christmas”. The singers ended their performance with a light hearted but all too real tale titled, “Grandma’s Killer Fruitcake”.

DREW & TRISH WASSON were guests of President-elect BETH O’BRIEN. JENNY & BUZZ BUSWELL were guests of BRENDA STATON.

Creed

PROMISE YOURSELF . . .TO be so strong that

nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

TO talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

TO make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

TO look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

TO think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

TO be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

TO forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

TO wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

TO give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

TO be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
