I often enjoy walking through the halls of our fine facilities. I stop and talk to our staff and patients and their families so that I can truly understand their

experiences at South Jersey Healthcare. This time also affords me an oppor-tunity to see first hand the results of the SJH Foundation’s efforts and to imagine how patient care will continue to improve as we expand our facilities at the Regional Medical Center, Elmer Hospital and Bridgeton Health Center.

We are currently in the midst of our “Building on Excellence” Capital Campaign to enhance Elmer Hospital. Since its inception in 1950, Elmer Hospital has been a hallmark of quality health care for the many families that have come to know this facility as a place of true healing and compassionate care. Over the past eight years, Elmer Hospital has expanded its facilities and capabilities through the opening of a state-of-the-art intensive care unit, a modern surgical services department, a new Wound Care Center and a new MaternityCare Center.

The biggest changes lie ahead. The planned Emergency Room renovations will significantly enhance patient care by expanding the current 10-bay unit to a modern 16-bed facility. The addition of a 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance

The 6th Annual Fashion Show and Fair is a Success

T he South Jersey Healthcare (SJH) Foundation hosted its annual Fashion

Show and Fair at Centerton Country Club in Pittsgrove. More than 400 people from throughout the region attended the event helping to raise nearly $50,000. Century Savings Bank was the presenting sponsor of this year’s show and proceeds benefit the SJH Foundation.

“This Fashion Show has become a fall highlight for both the Foundation and the entire South Jersey region,” said Carolyn Heckman, executive direc-tor of the SJH Foundation. “It is only through the generous support of our sponsors, like Century Savings Bank, that we can continue to raise money with events like this that are fun for both the com-munity and participants, while contributing to the health care needs of our region.”

More than 30 area businesses took part in the Fashion Fair with displays of various merchandise and services.

Lynn Crescenzo, owner of Utopia Salon & Day Spa and

vice-chair of the SJH Auxiliary

choreographed and emceed the

event. Featured clothiers for this

year’s show included TAHARI, Caché,

Salvatore Ferragamo, Juvante Formal Wear,

Brian’s Famous Furs & Leathers, Rissy Roo’s,

rue21, The Dress Shop at Mullica Hill, Lane Bryant,

The Men’s Wearhouse, Alanna’s Fabulous Fun Fashion, Boscov’s, Kohls and Rienzi Bridal Salon.

Models who partici-pated in the show were chosen at a model search on September 8, 2007 held at Lakeside Middle School in Millville. Representatives from the Barbizon Modeling Agency and the

Model Management

Agency chose the models for the event. More than 50 local men and women were selected to model the clothes and accessories presented during the fashion show.

This year’s show will be on October 22 at Centerton Country Club. Watch for more details on our website, www.sjhfdn.org.

The 2007 Annual Golf and Tennis

TournamentThe SJH Foundation hosted another

successful edition of the Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament on September 19, 2007 at the Seaview Marriott Resort and Spa in Galloway Township. The proceeds, nearly $180,000, will be used to purchase needed medical equipment and fund vital programs provided by South Jersey Healthcare. The day was a huge success, in large part due to the support of our dedicated volunteers, donors and, especially, the Tournament’s presenting sponsor, Commerce Bank.

The 2008 Golf and Tennis Tournament will take place on Wednesday, September 17 at the Seaview Marriott.

Imaging (MRI) unit to the Radiology Department will provide physicians with rapid, on-site access to detailed imaging studies, including soft tissue imaging. This MRI will provide a great convenience to Elmer Hospital patients, who must currently travel to the SJH Regional Medical Center in Vineland for these studies.

Of course, these improvements can only happen WITH YOUR SUPPORT.
