A Message from Vice Principal Oussama Baydoun… Parents, As we approach another end to a successful school year please remind your child to remain steadfast and dedicated to all dimensions of being a successful student. We ask all students to remain focused on three things that make them successful in school; attendance, academics, and behavior . We want to assure parents to stay connected and collaborate through face to face meetings at Parent conferences (coming up on March 16, 2016 from 4-7 pm), use technology such as Student/Parent Connect, and verify their child’s academic standing by communicating with their counselors. By staying connected you can make informed Decisions about credit recovery and other available options that support your child’s school success. We ask that you support and trust your child but we also ask that you verify that they are indeed experiencing success at school. We are eager and willing to ensure your child’s success but we need your support and collaboration in ensuring that they are in good attendance every single day. Through Student/Parent Connect you ensure that your child is on time every single day to every class. Research is very clear about good attendance and success in school, they go hand and hand. We ask that you provide a place for your child to complete homework every night, even when they assure you their teacher did not assign any. We ask you to check our website for upcoming events and see to it that you know where your child will be after school hours. We know that teenagers need a good night’s rest for them to be successful in the classroom. A Message from Vice Principal Oussama Baydoun… Parents,

As we approach another end to a successful school year please remind your

child to remain steadfast and dedicated to all dimensions of being a successful

student. We ask all students to remain focused on three things that make them

successful in school; attendance, academics, and behavior . We want to

assure parents to stay connected and collaborate through face to face

meetings at Parent conferences (coming up on March 16, 2016 from 4-7 pm), use

technology such as Student/Parent Connect, and verify their child’s academic

standing by communicating with their counselors.

By staying connected you can make informed

Decisions about credit recovery and other

available options that support your child’s school

success. We ask that you support and trust

your child but we also ask that you verify that

they are indeed experiencing success at school.

We are eager and willing to ensure your child’s

success but we need your support and

collaboration in ensuring that they are in

good attendance every single day. Through Student/Parent Connect you

ensure that your child is on time every single day to every class. Research is

very clear about good attendance and success in school, they go hand and

hand. We ask that you provide a place for your child to complete homework

every night, even when they assure you their teacher did not assign any. We ask

you to check our website for upcoming events and see to it that you know

where your child will be after school hours. We know that teenagers need a

good night’s rest for them to be successful in the classroom.

We ask all students

to remain focused on

three things that

make them

successful in school;

attendance,

academics,

and behavior.

ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB NEWS We had another successful winter sports season thanks to the dedication of the AD, coaches, parents, students, and faculty! We look forward to another successful spring sports season of athletics at Dearborn High School (DHS). The DHS Athletic Booster Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at O’Kelley’s Lounge located at the Knights of Columbus (K of C) on Park Street. Everyone is encouraged to attend, but freshmen parents are especially encouraged to attend our next meeting, April 13 at 7pm. The Booster Club is an informal, friendly volunteer organization where everyone is welcome and you do not have to be a member to attend our meetings. Getting involved in the Booster Club is a great way to support your student and the athletic programs at DHS. Traditionally Dearborn High School has maintained great, competitive sports teams and we look forward to more of the same this year!

A Booster Club Membership is just $20. It is a great way to support your student athlete. HOWEVER, an Athletic Pass is an even better deal; for $60, the Athletic Pass allows parents and non-high school children admission to ALL DHS home athletic events for the entire school year AND includes your Booster Club membership. The DHS Adult Athletic Booster Club sponsors projects that benefit over 500 Dearborn High School student athletes, comprising 24 sports and 41 teams per year. Help us to remain one of the largest Booster Clubs in the State of Michigan! Your membership $$$ at work. Recent expenditures include:

* New record boards and trophy cases in the Gym hall * Contribute to the Girl’s strength training to help reduce sports related injuries * New audio system in the Gym and boy’s locker room * Golf bags for the girl’s golf team * Refurbished the weight room equipment * Purchased a new scorer’s table and chairs with the Pioneer logo for the gym * New ice machine for the girl’s locker room * New headphones for the Football team coaches * New blocking sled for the Football team * Online video analysis/scouting software update for all teams to use * Annual Scholarship awards * Welcome back picnic * Bon fire cider, donuts and gift for the participants * Advertisement/sponsorship for the United Hockey Team * Financial support for the printing of the Pioneer Post * T-shirts for league championship teams * All student athlete meals for school year’s Sports Banquets * And much more……

Thank you to all of the volunteers and everyone who donated their time for the Dearborn High School home sport events this fall sports season. It was another huge success and cannot happen without your involvement. Great to see alumni and current DHS families supporting the mighty Pioneers!

Spring Sports Concessions are underway and volunteers are always needed and welcome. Please contact Rose Urbano-Spencer, [email protected]. This is a vital fund raising source for the booster club and adds value to every sporting event. Without volunteers, the Booster Club is unable to open the concession stands. Please consider supporting by signing up today on line at:http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0c4ea5a72ea75-dhsindoor

Get the most current sports news and game schedules at: http://iblog.dearbornschools.org/dhsathletics1/athletics-home/.

Please visit the DHS Athletic Booster Club Web Site! We hope that our new website will provide you with information about our organization and upcoming events. Go to www.DHSBoosters.org

The Athletic Booster Club is selling apparel and other merchandise. Check out our hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, alumni t-shirts, polos, jackets, hats, bandanas, lanyards, thermal mugs, water bottles and window decals; available at the concession stands and during special events. Questions, comments, concerns, or new ideas are always welcome. Below are the Booster Club contacts: Officers: Pat Palajac (President) 248-420-9810 [email protected]

Business Managers: Rose Urbano-Spencer (Concessions) [email protected] Bill O’Reilly (WebMaster) [email protected] The Booster Club is in need of a few good people, but more specifically, we need new volunteers to fill vacant positions after this year for the following positions: President, Vice President, Event Coordinators for outdoor and indoor concession stands, Dearborn Homecoming, the annual Spring Pioneer Open Golf Outing, Homecoming Spirit Week Committee and Fundraising. If you want more information OR are interested in participating in the Booster Club in a more active way, please contact any of the officers.
