Introit: Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to facePercy Whitlock (1903-1946)

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face; Here faith can touch and handle things unseen; Here would I grasp with firmer hands Thy grace,And all my weariness upon Thee lean.

Here would I feed upon the Bread of God,Here drink with Thee the Royal Wine of Heav’n;Here would I lay aside each earthly load,And taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

––Horatius Bonar, 1855

Anthem: Come down, O love divineSir William H. Harris (1883-1973) Come down, O Love divine, seek thou this soul of mine, and visit it with thine own ardor glowing; O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear, and kindle it, thy holy flame bestowing.

O let it freely burn, till earthly passions turn to dust and ashes in its heat consuming; and let thy glorious light shine ever on my sight, and clothe me round, the while my path illuming.

And so the yearning strong, with which the soul will long, shall far outpass the power of human telling; for none can guess its grace, till Love create a place wherein the Holy Spirit makes a dwelling.

––Bianco of Siena, d. 1434; trans. by Richard F. Littledale, 1833-1890

Music notes will return in September.

This morning is our Assistant Conductor Floydd Ricketts’ last service with us in that role. We thank him warmly for all he has contributed to the music ministry of our church family this past season, and wish him every success in his continuing doctoral studies at McGill University.
