Our Special ThanksWe are very grateful to renowned photographer Joséphine Sacabo for her gift of the beautiful cover photo of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, to Hall Piano Company for making available and tuning the Baby Grand piano, for tonight’s talented artists peforming on behalf of The Bishop Perry Center, and to our sponsors for making this concert series possible.

This series is once again presented by the Bishop Perry Center in association with the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis King of France. We are happy to present a new and exciting group of artists in 2016 for the en-joyment of our audiences. And we look forward to making new friends for the Bishop Perry Center with this cultural offering to our community during the Lenten season. The Bishop Perry Center, located at 1941 Dauphine, New Orleans, LA, 70116, has a multi-faceted mission of: —Providing a spiritual ministry: daily mass at Noon Monday – Friday, ongoing spiritual counseling at the Center, boots on the street ministering to men, women, and children living on the street, and communicating with downtown residents to make them aware of services available at the Center. —Meeting the material needs for food and clothing of the disadvantaged and assisting those without homes to find shelter. —Providing a base for the delivery by medical institutions of free medical and psychological evaluation-treatment services, desperately needed in downtown New Orleans. —Providing educational services, such as tutoring for the GED, teaching reading and writing, teaching computer skills, and mentoring men and women who have lost their jobs and are seeking employment. —Cultural outreach programs for the downtown neighborhoods, including heritage events, music events, literary events, and visual arts events. The Center includes a free public lending library with an excellent donated collection. The Archdiocese over the years has sanctioned many programs operated by various orders of the Roman Catholic Church, such as the Jesuits and the Vincentians. The Bishop Perry Center, however, is the first outreach mission to be administered directly by the Archdiocese. It was created in direct response to the messages of Pope Francis urging the clergy, Religious, and laiety to carry out the lessons and examples of Christ to minister to those less fortunate. In 2015 an average of 379 persons per week were served by the Bishop Perry Center...or a total of 19,708 persons provided with basic needs in 2015. Additionally, the Bishop Perry Center provided cultural events, including our Lenten concerts, all free and open to the general public. These events have attracted some 2,600 persons total. This means that, as a result of your support, we had a positive impact on more than 22,000 men, women, and children last year. We thank you most sincerely for your support. Without it, we could have accomplished very little. During the first weeks of 2016, the demand for services has grown to 500 persons per week. The Center, therefore, is seeking additional support from the community at large to carry out its ministries. We welcome and value donations of time and talents by volunteers, as well as financial gifts and donations of food, clothing, and other materials. We invite you to contact the Center at 504-227-3272 soon to arrange to visit us in the near future. The Rev. William F. Maestri

Founder, The Bishop Perry Center
