May God Bless each family present.

And bless our entire Holy Family Parish.

Make it like the family of your Son. May our moments of

sorrow, give way to the seasons of joy.

May the memory of harsh words fade before the warmth of

a loving touch. May the tears of sorrow be

replaced by the music of laughter.

May resentment be banished from our families,

and may forgiveness reign in our hearts.

Today and everyday. Amen! A few spots remain for teachers and

aides to help with our Religious

Education program. Parent volunteer

hours may be acquired through these

important ministries. Call Mary Ann

(707-315-0934) or Marina

(415-497-3171) for more information and to sign-up to

help. Thank you.

I am very glad that we see another month. I hope this

month of September will be a blessing for all of us. It is very disparaging that the Church is struck once again with this clergy sexual abuse of minors. It is incongruous and abhorrent to hear of such a catastrophic event of un-thinkable scale again. This is an ecclesiastical tsunami that

is gradually eroding the ambience of our spiritual terrain. This is no fun at all and I write with such a deep heart to add my voice to the many voices asking for pardon and forgiveness so that such unfortunate occurrences will not jeopardize the spirits of our good and faithful well-meaning Catholics. May God help us all to rise above such situations and see the salvation of God at work in our lives. I want to reiterate once again what Bishop Vasa wrote in his

statement that, "The Diocese of Santa Rosa has a zero tolerance policy with regard to the sexual abuse of minors

on the part of anyone who serves the Church. We work

consistently to assure that we respond to each allegation of

abuse with seriousness and with compassion."

I write to assure you that good will always triumph over evil. Let us not allow such misdemeanor to impede us from the good work we do in our Churches to lift high the Cross of

Jesus, Our Savior.

For everything else, I am just waiting for positive feedback from the City of American Canyon, so that we can start mov-ing dirt for the genesis of our New Church Building. Jesus

shall reign forever.

Oboedientia et Pax

Our Canon of Scripture (the New Testament) does not record Mary’s birth nor even mention her immediate family. But according to

Christian and Islamic tradition, Mary’s mother came from the House of David, putting Jesus in the line of David through both Joseph

and Mary. The earliest known account of Mary’s family is found in the apocryphal gospel of James. This is not one of our four canoni-

cal Gospels but is a text assumed written around 150 AD.

This account (as well as the Quran!) name Mary’s mother as Anne, the daughter of Faqud. And it names Mary’s father as Joachim. In

Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican traditions Mary’s parents are considered saints and we frequently find churches named for St. Anne

and St. Joachim. Some of our Holy Family parishioners have attended a Cursillo event at St. Anne’s Parish in San Francisco.

The Church usually commemorates our saints with a feast day to remember their deaths, but in the case of Mary, we celebrate a day

to commemorate her birth since her birth was so important in salvation history and her very birth was so holy. That feast day will be

on September 8th.

All women are invited to participate in our parish Women’s Club. We meet on the third Tuesday of eve-

ry month for fellowship, a pot luck dinner and discussion on how we can continue to support our par-

ish. This past year, we have accomplished the following:

* Fundraising for our construction project * Provided bereavement ministry *

Supported the “Get on the Bus” program * Visited the homebound * Organized a “Relay for Life” team *

Supported the Christian Help Center * Supported the Global Holiday Faire * Assisted with parish parties *

Provided hosts for Communion * Collections for A. C. Family Resource Center * Catholic Camp Scholarships *

Emergency Kits * Catholic Charities support *

Check elsewhere in this bulletin for specific time and place of our September meeting and please join us this month. For

more information, contact Nancy Nabrynski at 707-318-4860.
